jmorando05 Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 So it wont fire at all and its getting minimum spark. The tors is disconnected to the throttle and the carbs and when plugged into the tors box i get no spark and when i disconnect the connector it wwill start only when jumped by being pulled from another quad. When it does start it runs but its "hectic" it sounds feels like one cylinder is firing and then as i hit teh throttle and get to higher rpms the other cylinder kicks in. Any ideas? the tors was disconnected when i got it and it ran fine and then all of the sudden a month later this is what i got. James Quote

Could be caused by running too rich, are you plugs really black and oily? Quote
jmorando05 Posted May 4, 2010 Author Report Posted May 4, 2010 i tried that already. actually twice. Quote
Jereme6655 Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 i tried that already. actually twice. we need some more info.....are there any mods done to your shee? what size are the main and pilots jets....has the temp changed in the area you live in around the time it started acting hectic? what year is your shee.... if it hits only on one cylinder but the other one comes on when your part way into the throttle it could be a problem with your pilot jetting. if it doens't want to rev at all when you try to give it throttle it could also be your parking brake limiter. jmorando05 Posted May 5, 2010 Author Report Posted May 5, 2010 fmf pipes. the weather has changed i live in the northeast and its now in the 70's but it was working since the temp went up. i started it up ran it cleared it out then changed the plugs and nothing so tried another set of new ones and nothing. finally went back to the original ones that were in there working and again nothing. bansheesandrider Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Read the pinned electrical thread on here, and then check your coil, stator, and pickup coil with an ohmmeter, make sure your wire harness is in good shape, that yo have good grounds everywhere, make sure your flywheel is good and not corroded, and set your pickup coil gap to .017", about the thickness of a match book cover. Hope this helps. Quote
jmorando05 Posted May 5, 2010 Author Report Posted May 5, 2010 just walked out fucking around thought i would kick my balls off it starts first kick. idled fine once warm. ripped it up the rd and when i hit 4th it went then died and wouldnt start back up again.. its either gotta be a lose ground or maybe the jetting? Im having the exact same issue with my banshee right now with the same exact symptoms, havent torn it apart yet to investigate, but it cutts out like you described, then wont start at all. Then out of the blue has spark again. I do know that when it doesnt fire, i have no spark at all, So im off to investigate this weekend as to what the problem is. I gaped the pickup coil and cleaned the flywheel bumps all looks good. My guess is the pickup coil is bad or the coil itself is bad, i have not ohmed it out yet.I will let you know if i find anything!!! (If its even the same problem. Quote

jmorando05 Posted May 7, 2010 Author Report Posted May 7, 2010 yea i just ohmed it out and the pickup coil was adjusted so its perfect and now i have constant spark but it still wont fire. going to try new gas and see if that helps but now im really stuck. it has the tors eliminated without the idle screws installed and it used to run fine but would this causethese symptoms? idk where else to look im kind of at a dead end. Larry's Shee Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 (edited) Plug caps ? Check all grounds and switches. Edited May 8, 2010 by Larry's Shee Quote
jmorando05 Posted May 8, 2010 Author Report Posted May 8, 2010 I just switched plugs and wires and the same cylinder always fires and the other kicks in at high rpms and slightly at low rpms. checked the plug after wot run on the one not fully firing and was wet so it is getting fuel. would this be a jetting issue or possibly reed issue?
