beebs Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 When I installed them on the engine I only used the thumb throttle adjuster and left the carb cap adjuster's all the way in, to take the slack out of the cable. When I hold the throttle wide open the slides only open to about the bottom of the slide cut away with the back of the slide hanging down in the carb airway. I don't think this is right but before I start adjusting thing's I wanted to ask how far they actually are suppose to go up? The whole slide should be up and out of the airway, correct?? And to get the slide's to lift higher I have to use the carb cap adjuster and back off on the throttle one? Quote

beebs Posted April 22, 2010 Author Report Posted April 22, 2010 the slides should go all the way up. what throttle cable are you using? I can't remember which throttle cable it was. HJR set me up so I know it is right. I got ahold of him last night and he told me where I went wrong. I should'nt have used the thumb throttle to do all the adjusting and instead used the carb tops to take up most of the cable slack then use the throttle adjuster for the rest. Havent put it together yet but it makes sense. Not even sure why I checked but im glad I did. Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 If you are using the stock PWK cap adjustment screws, they may not have enough threads to let the slides open up completely. I purchased Mikini cap adjustment screws from a local joint. The threads are the same as the Keihin adjusters, but the threaded portion is about 5mm longer (I used a Kehin cap at the store to do a test fit at the store). I do not have the part number anymore, but the picture below will show you exactly what you need. They are the same as ones FAST sells (gold is stock, silver is the one you want)... Quote
beebs Posted April 24, 2010 Author Report Posted April 24, 2010 Got around to do some adjusting and yes I will need the longer adjusters. I got the slides to fully open but im to the very end of the threads on the carb top and scared they might strip out. Thank's for the input guy's. Quote
