So Cal Suspension Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 So I was bored, browsing eBay today looking at random shocks for possibilities to try on the front end of my shee. I came across these Arctic Cat ZL440 shocks and figured... what the hell... they are rebuildable, revalveable, with an adjustable pre-load. For 77 bucks shipped I'll give them a shot. I'll have the replace the top bushings, and maybe shim the lower ones... but that's easy peazy. Anyone used any snow-go shocks on their bikes before? Quote

So Cal Suspension Posted April 21, 2010 Author Report Posted April 21, 2010 So. did you get them? According to UPS, they're supposed to be here tomorrow... I'll post some pics when they get here. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Well ....................... I'm waiting , lol. Quote
So Cal Suspension Posted April 24, 2010 Author Report Posted April 24, 2010 I need to get some bushings, but they fit perfectly otherwise. I'll throw some pics up when I get home. Quote
So Cal Suspension Posted April 24, 2010 Author Report Posted April 24, 2010 Larry, I didn't forget about you. The old lady's got the digital camera. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Well, you got me thinking. Found add on CL going to call. When you're choices are either shocks that could be 20yrs old or Big $$$ aftermarket , it's time to think outside of the box. Quote

The angle that the pic was taken makes the stocker look longer, but it's not. They both measure the exact same eye to eye. Quote
Pappa Kaneda Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 There's a thread by yamaholic125 where he uses the Float Evols from a Nytro sled... I don't remember if he mentioned how much he spent on them... Quote
papa_smurf49319 Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 very curious as to how well they work out for ya! Keep us posted! Cody Quote
So Cal Suspension Posted April 30, 2010 Author Report Posted April 30, 2010 K, I got em installed. Saturday will be test day. I'll keep ya updated! Don't mind all the rags on the ground... I had a little coolant mishap when installing my Vapor. Quote
So Cal Suspension Posted May 3, 2010 Author Report Posted May 3, 2010 Okay, so I finally got to test out these shocks. In some pretty shitty terrain, too. (Ask Jason, or Jay). I don't know how to put this... I FUCKING LOVE THEM. 100x better than stock.... during HARD riding, I never bottomed out got VERY close, but never hit; and I mean hard... 5th gear whoops... on accident. when I jumped, I hit bottom twice, out of 25-30 jumps. I have the preload set about 1/3 of the way down. I could go a little firmer so I won't bottom out on jumps, but it's the perfect amount of softness. Simply put... the best $77 bucks I've ever spent. Larry's Shee Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 Now that's what I'm talking about !!!! Quote
Pappa Kaneda Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 If it was that much of an improvement definitely worth the 77 bones. Something to look into. Quote
