Tow strap wraped around the grab bar or front bumper. Get an ATV strap it is thin like a tie down srap only longer. It has a loop on each end and come with a small clevis.

I ride with my backpack all the time. I usually carry a few plugs, wrench, zip ties and a pair of vise-grips, tow straps and some other misc. stuff. Can't even tell it's there but if I foul a plug, break a shift lever or whatever, I got a little something to get me or whoever back to camp. Oh yeah, and a bottle or 2 of water. I'm the only one out of my group that rides with it, but I'm also the only one that gets to drink water when we stop.

I have a camelback type backpack that has a drink tube that you bite on to drink. It has bladder for some Gatorade when riding in the desert, or iced cran/vodka (-;

It has all the straps and extra little compartments for sorting your tools and stuff. Pretty neat for 40 bucks at a local sport store. They use them for hiking.

Depending on how much stuff you take, either a backpack or a fanny pack. My wife and I each have a fanny pack big enough to hold a self made tool kit or first aid kit and a couple of water bottles or cans of liquid refreshment, and some other small items. If we need more than that, we have a backpack with a waist strap so it does not flop around. If we need even more room, we have a quick detach six pack rack on her bike that we can either put a small cooler or gas can in if we need it. I always carry a ATV tow strap in a pouch where the factory tool kit goes in the rear plastic.
