ya i think the evos were more reliable. the wrx had the glass trannies. and a wrx is not turbo'ed. the STIs are.

if you get a WRX, make sure it is an STI.

Ok, ALL WRX's are turboed. A non Turboed WRX is an impreza, NOT a WRX. WRX 5 Speed trannies are known to crack under high horsepower applications. The WRX has a 2.0L block while the STi has a 2.5. And STi's are typically around 5 - 10k more, making them not the best option for someone with a smaller budget, which is why i asked. I have several friends with EVO's and even more with STi's and WRX's, any honest EVO owner will admit that Subaru makes a more reliable car. As far as the EVO with 200k on it, that is awesome, but not the norm for any high performance 4 cylinder turbo no matter what the make.

well really i am correct. they made a non turbo WRX that was a WRX NA. it was never sold in the states under the WRX badging. the WRX NB is known as the WRX in the states.

That is really not being coorect as much as it is not knowing what you are talking about and falling backwards into a technicality That is a JDM car that has to be imported into the united states. And you states above that WRX's were non turbo, implying that you thought all WRX's were non turbo when in reality the car you speak of is a JDM WRX imported to the US, the WRX didnt come state side till 02. But ill give you points for using Google.

Evo MR 6 speeds are known to have quite a bit of issues too.

I'm not hating on STI's and I'm sure the new STI's will rape a Evo X.

Mitsubishi went downhill with the X's.

I dig my Evo. Its cool having something that you rarely see on the street. Atleast I hardly see them anywhere around here. lol.

Im not saying anything bad about EVO's either. I like the EVO, what i was trying to say is the EVO/ EVOMR and the WRX/STi are by far the best choice IMO for a Turboed import. And as far as reliability goes i can only go by what i know first hand and have been told. Either way if your buy an EVO or a WRX you will be very happy with your purchase. AWD FTW!

It's all about personal preference. The usual gear head wont leave anything stock. Anything can go fast, some just take more money they others.

Look at me, i bought a heavy tank and sank thousands into it. But i love it! it's me!

It seems a lot of your guys are bias. But so am i. I would take an evo over an STI or WRX any time, but i rather choose something else =-\

Not to sound lame but i think id do gay porn before i would own an srt4. It's a freakin neon for crying out loud!

See....im a "little" bias ;)

Id have to know exactly what they go for used etc then i could give examples. But im bias, a lot of guys would love those rides.

And i have not driven either. I just look at potential and my personal preference. My buddy has a cobalt ss(turbo one) and it's a VERY nice car but the potential is limited as well as it's FWD. when im looking at a performance car, i look at long term goals. FWD is amazing hard to get power the the ground to when you start to push a lot of power.

Although riding in a 400whp civic hatch is down right nasty feeling!

I agree with the nasty feeling, the feeling of slippage. You can have 1000 HP but if you cant put it too the ground there is no point. I am just partial to AWD mainly because of where i live we have icey and snowing winters, and the practicality as well as the performance of AWD just leaves everything in the dust. I have raced Turboed civics with 400+HP in both 1/4 mile and 30 MPH rolling start races, and in my car putting down 351 AWHP and 372 AWT it was no competition. You just cant beat the traction and the ability to put the power to the pavement of an AWD car.

Yup then lack of traction is a good example cuz 400+ civic should walk you hard.

Exactly im not saying i have raced dozens of 400+ cars or anything but i know both times i have it was all squeelin on his end. 0 - 60 is all i really care about anyways, anyone can catch up eventually. Im not a street racer and where can you take your car over 100 without risking jail time or putting innocent bystanders lives at risk anyways. Just my .02
