lmaloch Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 I plan on doing this in the future but have bigger fish to fry at the moment. If you do the conversion let us know how it went. Quote
Snopczynski Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 I have a dc conversion done to my bike, and I run DC led lights for night. Costs varies greatly depending on your battery size and the parts you use.....Like reg/rec, connectors, circuit breakers, etc..... I run a stock stator with the conversion. It is very difficult finding the ground on a stock stator to float it. Quote
polkaudio Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I did this a couple of years ago but haven't been able to get out to the dunes much to try it out due to performance issues. I started out with an Ricky Stator unit with the ground floated already so it was a simple bolt-on deal. I cleaned up the harness to simplfy it. The TORS was already removed when I bought it so I removed all the un-needed wiring. I have an 8.5" Vision X HID for the dunes and a 30 watt Trail Tech flood for cruising around camps. I wired a relay for each light off of the stock light switch; low beam for Trail Tech, high beam for HID. I cut out the tool kit holder and radiator reservoir and a buddy made a battery box from aluminum. I'm happy with the whole thing for the most part. I'll be even happier when I get my shee running right. Pulling the RS stator and putting the stocker back on for now to determine if it's the stator that's bad like other here have found. Quote
tbuchanan Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 With the DC conversion are you still able to use the factory headlight switch or do you have to put a new switch in line? Quote
Snopczynski Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 You can still use the factory one. Your gonna need to be fairly handy with wiring tools, and able to understand a factory wiring diagram though. Quote
