Driggs Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Picked up an 06 Banshee. Had to send the jugs off to be bored and I was just thinking, I never saw any reed valves when taking everything apart. Could it be possiable the previous owner removed them? The bike would run, just wouldnt start without pulling it. Thats why I'm having it bored. Would it run without reed valves? Quote
White97Banshee Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 I've been around 2 strokes most of my life and I have never heard of such a thing. All of my dad's dirt bikes & my old Blaster & my Current Banshee ALL have reed valves. That's really strange it seems as though you would need some very unique jetting combination to get that to run correctly Quote
FireHead Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 It wouldn't run without them if it is an OEM Banshee engine.............. Quote
AKheathen Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 It wouldn't run without them if it is an OEM Banshee engine.............. hehe, funny thing you mention this... it actually would run near and above the resonant rpm that works with the flow dynamics........ :geek: but.... that's not the case here they were probably sent with the juggs, or you simply just don't remember them. make sure the port edges are chamfered some when you get the cylinders back, or it'll tear the rings up, and mabey pull a ring land, or worse. check the pickup gap and jetting when you put it back together. then, take a base compression reading for future basis. Larry's Shee Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Do you know what they look like? Quote
Driggs Posted August 5, 2009 Author Report Posted August 5, 2009 I thought I did but maybe not. I get the juggs back tomorrow so I'll take another look. Quote
LS1Inferno Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Ive had a banshee running without reeds, not running great but would run like it was lean at a high RPM Quote
