but the main gear does not want to come off, I need to get it off to replace the right side crank bearing Is it safe to use a 3 jaw gear puller on this?

wait, what??

puller for the main gear? which gear are you talking about? you dont need a puller for anything on the clutch side of the motor.

the gear on the clutch side of the crank has a nut holding it on. did you take it off?

also, is the crank still in the bike? do you intend on trying to install a new crank bearing with the crank still in the bike?

no the crank is not in the bike...it is completly dissasembled. i am talking about the main gear on the right side of the crank, the nut is off and the gear for the water impeller is off but the main gear on the crank does not want to come off. I obviously have to get that off to replace the outer bearings and the oil seals. any ideas??? I did not want to try to force it with out checking with you all first, i know some one on here has run into this before

Ok got the main gear off, thanks for the advice, i wasnt sure if i should tap on it or not being i have never worked on a banshee before. Now that i have the gear off i cant get the right side bearing off. i t should just slide off correct???? It spins very freely if you give it a flick of your finger it will spin at least 10-15 times all the way around.but it does sound slightly noisy so i think i should replace it in stead of lubing it up.
