black2kstang Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 hey guys, im gonna start working on my new banshee this coming week. im told it has a 4mil crank and a .020" over bore... Im going to have to go at least another .020 to get the scratches out of the cylinder walls. i havent torn the motor apart yet but i can see the cuts. Also, the pistons are flycut. what is the reason for that. I know in cars "sohc/dohc" you have to have flycut pistons when you have big cams so you dont have piston to valve issues... This may sound a like a retarded question but do they sell aftermarket cams for these bikes? money is not THAT much of an issue but i would rather not go broke on a toy. but, im getting out of an 11 second car and getting on a 4wheeler now so i still have the need for speed in my blood. lol. The bike already has some suspension mods but right now im concerned about getting the motor strong. Im also curious about head work and other "power" mods i can do. I also dont know anyone around my area that is good with these bikes and how to make them fast. So any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Quote
lokisbuddy Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 Errrrr 2 strokes dont have cams buddy as there are no intake or exhaust valves to open on these bad boys and as for head work you could get a cool head and some domes. I think what you are refering to though is jug or cylinder work and there are a few different routes you can go with this and I am sure someone with more experience in this area (not hard as I have little) will chime in. Enjoy the forums man you will find lotsa help here. I mean where else can you go to hear lame ass banshee raps and get mechanical help all in the same place? Quote

pr0blumz Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 How much are you looking to spend on mods? Quote
kodie Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 the big thing is what kind of riding your going to be doing. trails? dunes? draging? hillshooter? that will base what kind of port or maybe aftermarket cylinders you will be getting and carbs and what not. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 Unless those are gouges not scratches you should only bore enough to clean up. Fly cut pistons are probably Vitos super stock, increases exhaust timing. Poor mans port job. I don't know a lot about prices but you could get a decent crate motor for what some wazoo shee motors go for. Saw set of billit crankcases for $2500. Speed isn't much cheaper just cause it two cyl.
