  1. here are a few pics... i didnt see a brand name of the control arms. the shocks were works performance. after looking at it, i dont think it has been stretched at all.. im gonna start taking the motor apart this week. ill also have to replace the bushings on the upper control arms, they are wore out.
  2. im located in mississippi... and money is not that much of an object but im not gonna drop a lot at one time. just gonna go at it a few hundred at a time. most of the riding will be done in dirt pits and stuff like that and on grass.
  3. thanks for the correction man. like i said, im completely new to these engines and the terms and what not. im used to racing cars and hearing those terms. lol. and just to get it out there. im not looking to do a mild setup for beginners, i wanna go ahead and make this thing fast so i dont have to rebuild it in a month when im bored with it. im also not concerned about having anything chrome or polished up so i think that will save me some money also.
  4. ah, its not much to look at right now but ill get some pics up tomorrow. im gonna paint it all flat black after i get done doing performance mods. it might have 1 accent piece on it as far as paint wise, might get some white banshee decals or something.
  5. hey guys, im gonna start working on my new banshee this coming week. im told it has a 4mil crank and a .020" over bore... Im going to have to go at least another .020 to get the scratches out of the cylinder walls. i havent torn the motor apart yet but i can see the cuts. Also, the pistons are flycut. what is the reason for that. I know in cars "sohc/dohc" you have to have flycut pistons when you have big cams so you dont have piston to valve issues... This may sound a like a retarded question but do they sell aftermarket cams for these bikes? money is not THAT much of an issue but i would rather not go broke on a toy. but, im getting out of an 11 second car and getting on a 4wheeler now so i still have the need for speed in my blood. lol. The bike already has some suspension mods but right now im concerned about getting the motor strong. Im also curious about head work and other "power" mods i can do. I also dont know anyone around my area that is good with these bikes and how to make them fast. So any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
  6. haha... i just went from spending almost a grand a month on my mustang to having to stop spending on it completely... so maybe i can keep the spending down on the banshee to a couple hundred a month. im hoping to be able to get it to where i want it to be with a grand or less... but im sure it will end up being like a car, after i get that grand in it i find out that i gotta put another 2 or 3k in it to get it where i want it. lol
  7. well, i doubt ill be racing it on a drag strip... but i hope to be able to make it hook well enough to launch hard on dirt/grass/sand or whatever ill be racing on. i have been racing cars for the past few years so i have a good bit of knowledge to carry over from that about suspension work and what not. The banshee already has aftermarket control arms which widened the bike and it is supposed to be stretched a little too i believe. but here is what confused me. i sat on the bike today and the back was really really soft. i mean, im a 250lb guy but it shouldnt squat that much. i know in cars you want the back to be kind of stiff so it will plant the tires rather than bounce. this bike wont be strictly a drag bike but i want it to do well when we are out riding in some sand pits and stuff like that, but i also miss the fact of the high mph wheelies i could do on crotch rockets so i would love to be able to pull out some 5th and 6th gear wheelies on the banshee. i was able to walk some pretty decent 4th gear ones on my buddys stock trx 450 or 400 or whatever they are. just curious, but say im one heck of a rider and and shift the bike very well, how would a stroked, suspension banshee hold up against some rapter 700s and yzf450 or yfz whatever they are. lol. also.. where would i get one of those clymers manuals? does it tell you about modifications, combos that work well together, best bang for your buck mods, jetting etc.?
  8. Hey guys, my name is Josh Kittrell. Im from hattiesburg ms. I just picked up a 2000 banshee today. the bike is supposed to have a bored and stroked motor, after market control arms and after market gas shocks. I dont know much about banshee's yet but im a quick learner and plan on milking all of your knowledge. lol. I have to rebuild my motor due to a seized up piston ring i believe. It has notched pistons right now but will have to be replaced due to scratches in the cylinder walls that will have to be bored out. im a fairly decent mechanic and will be doing my work myself other than the machine work. The bike is also supposed to have some head work done but i dont know what to look for and it doesnt seem like there is much there to have work done to it. lol. i love doing wheelies and drag racing. i understand that in drag racing you dont want the front coming up so i plan on setting up some kind of detachable wheelie bars that way when i want to play doing stunts and wheelies i can take it off and play. i have ridden dirtbikes and crotch rockets my whole life so this is not new to me. any tips, info, and what to do and what not to do's would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks guys.
