They won't go over the piston or rings?? If it's the piston, then you have the wrong size piston. If it's just the rings they won't go over, you have to compress them.

yeah, in the ring groove there is a small pin looking thing, your ring gap should close in on both sides of that.

I hate to admit it but, cough i spent 45 mins or better the first time i rebuilt mine trying to get the cylinder over the rings.... hahah i didnt have this site to back me up then. I didnt know about the slit in the piston and couldnt compress the rings for sh!t ahhaha

you might be trying to put a 66mm piston in a 65mm bore? :blush:

 

like everyone else has said, it only takes a second. make sure the pistons are installed facing the correct way line up your rings on the pins, compress both rings with fingers and slide her in there.

if the rings are upside down on a banshee, are they not able to be compressed fully/properly into the ring groove? i know some sleds are like this. if that is the case, maybe that is this guys problem? for proper ring orientation, you need to look for a little letter marking, very near the ring end gap. the side w/the marking should face up. hope this helps. maybe you do have the wrong piston size? did you measure the outside diameter of the piston and the inside diameter of the cylinder bore, to see if something obvious sends up a red flag?

ha ok i got it i forgot i wrote this but yeah i wasnt compressing the rings like they were suppose to its on and holy shit, its not even tuned right all the wya and the shit flies i dropped the needle down one maybe one more and then up a size or two on my main and it should be about perfect
