Woolfman Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 I could give a shit less what piston I am running as long as it doesn't break up on me and have had great luck with wiseco. That is why I recommended wiseco. Quote
shanYE west Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 My bad didn't know I had to do that thought stock size was stock size. Well at least I got it right the second time. I don't know as much as half the people on here and that is why I am on here. I try to help people when I can but I have only been working on four wheelers for a couple of years 5 at the most and only my own and my dads. So through my own experiences I try to help where I can. Isn't that what this site is all about? Thats what the site is here for. Pistons are like beer.. Everyone likes a different brand.. Quote
studroes Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 So through my own experiences I try to help where I can. Isn't that what this site is all about? right on man! im certainly not an expert on banshee's but if i have any knowledge or experience with a topic that comes up ill give my opinion. and as far as your vito's piston breaking..yes the most likely casue of that is that the bore and piston size weren't what they needed to be. a machinest needs the actual pistons that are gonna be run in the engine in order to bore the cylinder to the exact size needed. from my experiences i think that if an engine is put together properly with the new and correct parts and the setup is right for the engine and proper maintenance is taken then you'll have good luck with it. shanYE west Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 agreed! Man that was painfull just to come to that conclusion! Maybe if you wern't trying to hold peoples hands... I coulda told you that.. Quote
Woolfman Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 So if your not machining your jugs and just replacing wornout pistons how do find the right one or just replace my piston with a new one of the exact same make and size? Quote

studroes Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 So if your not machining your jugs and just replacing wornout pistons how do find the right one or just replace my piston with a new one of the exact same make and size? it could be possible that your cylinders were wore some too..a worn sleeve is the same as a worn piston when it comes to too much play inside the cylinder. the best way to go about that would be to buy one size bigger pistons and pay the extra money and have a machinest bore your cylinders to match. shanYE west Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 So if your not machining your jugs and just replacing wornout pistons how do find the right one or just replace my piston with a new one of the exact same make and size? I would just use the same type of piston. (Cast or Forged) But always check the cylinder/piston gap to make sure there in spec. after a fresh hone of course.. Quote
Woolfman Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Well I don't want to bore everytime I need to redo my top end or the jugs won't last very long so I guess from now on I will check cylinder to piston gap when I do my topend. Thanks Quote
kmac91 Posted April 30, 2009 Author Report Posted April 30, 2009 I had a fresh rebuild with wiseco pistons and changed to vitos just to see if there was a difference. To my surprise the vito's added that extra little spark to my shee. Ill let you guys know how the pistons hold up. Im going on a dune trip this weekend so ill give em the test. ill try to get some videos as well. Quote
bama boy Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 I guess it kinda boils down to everyone has there own opinion on pistons! I havent had any trouble with mine. TO EACH THERE OWN!!! Quote
MikeNick Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 if wiseco makes these parts for vitos, then why does it seem like theres alot of hatred toward vitos on this site? Because the company as a whole sells alot of fuckin junk....I had one Vito's purchase and it was bad, sent part back to get another part still fucked up..So yeah I'm done with them... Quote
flotek Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 they are made by wiseco to vitos specs which sadly are fairly dangerous given they design them with extra large intake windows that crack and shatter on the bridge prematurely. they have a long histroy of this and youll find in a search on here that this is the main reason people wont run them also they will screw up your exhaust duration and blowdown timing on a port job with the pie cutting over the exhaust area .slighlty better response and 1-2 hp arent worth a new topend and possibly crank and cases too.ive dug them out of too many lower ends to think they are a good option over a standard prolite design .. my 2 cents Quote
Chariot Performance Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Ok good to know. So they are not the same so why would I care if wiseco makes them they are not the same. I'm sure wiseco doesn't want to make someone elses pistons better than their own. I had a vito's and skirt shattered jacked up my crank and my wiseco has lasted longer already twice the hours. Just think wiseco makes them is a wierd response if they are totally different pistons. Wiseco actually changed there piston specs about 4 years ago to match what they were making for Vince. They may be different now but in no way is wiseco going to know what the better specs are compared to Vince's banshee piston specs. Vince knows banshee simply put!! Quote
