The timing plate is a static change, where the Dyna changes the timing as the RPMs change.

The dyna has a completely custom timing curve in the first 3 switch positions. You can still add timing on top of those positions.

i heard the dyna is set at +4 , so if u have ur plate at +4 .. then ur timing is goin to be +8

This is according to Cascade when I looked into buying one:

 

The Dyna has four standard curves. Curve 4 is the same as stock and 1-3 are more aggressive than stock. Mike told me it is fine to advance the timing plate to +4 as long as I did not use curve 3.

 

Using a timing plate at +4 and the Dyna on curve 4 is the same as +4 with the stock CDI. However, using a timing plate at +4 and curves 1,2, or 3 is NOT the same as stock.

 

Travis (Bigboybanshee) posted the curves on here a while ago, I will post them when I find them...

I run it on 110 with curve 3 at +4 and 185 psi compression.

the dyna tek stock curve is still further advanced than stock and plus 4 on the plate is too much to run with the dynatek i did it and it was too much it didnt want to run for shit when it was hot and it also did run hotter. plus the fucking thing sounded like a race car with a with a huge cam in it really choppy. i knocked it back to plus 2 with stock curve and it seems to be better

Question was, can you do it? Answer is yes! Setup has to be right for it though.

 

Like I said, I run curve 3 with 4 degrees of advance added to it. You run the right compression, squish, porting, pipes, and octane, you too can be as cool as me. :biggrin:

 

It runs good that way. 5 degrees showed signs of detonation on the dyno. Yes, I did ride it to verify my findings.
