jaydun323
Well I went riding with some friends yesterday, little bit of track trail and drag. N E ways towards the end of the day my shee started to act up on the high end and some back firing on the left side. It was already 5 so we decided to call it a day. Well today I did a compression test and a solid 125 on the right side and a big 0 on the left. I pulled the head and cylinders off and this is what I found. What do u guys think? mopar1rules
looks like a hot rods crank assembly to me. also looks like detonation to me, or the piston was chewing up on some lower bearing particles or something.
maxtrax
Doesn't look too terrible. Could have been much worse. Not too much seizing and it does look like detonation to me as well. Did you wire brush that piston before the pic?
tapout94
oh and i found this on the side of my connecting rods http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa149/crystymre/rod.jpg it says hot rods and HR 204 on the crank assy. does that mean its a hot rod cranks assy? thanks Justin OH! theres your problem... i think the rod was hot.... :yelrotflmao:
jaydun323
i didnt wire brush the piston i just cleaned it with a little carb cleaner for better pics. i didnt find any metal shavngs, chunks, or any thing metalic in the oil or anywhere else when i pulled it apart either. oh and i love the HOT rod comment
colby72olds
Wow, that's a bummer dude! I know how it is though mine has blown up plenty of times. There is definitely some discoloration on the rod, uh oh.
J-Madd
Air leak and deto would be my guess. You'd have metal in there if some foreign material got on top of the piston. What's the plug look like?
