last summer i only had my banshee out maybe once a month if i was lucky. everytime i started it the clutch wouldn't work do be able to get into gear. it would stall if put it in gear so i'd get a rolling start, pop it in gear, then tool around. after a few minutes it would release and work normal. i have everything apart at the moment and there doesn't appear to be anything wrong. i didn't measure the plates yet but they are not burnt at all and the fibers don't appear to be worn. there was no slippage once it started working right again, not even to 5th or 6th gear.

was it just from sitting so much and the fibers would go dry or am i just in for a new clutch kit? should i just throw in a new kit anyway while i have my motor apart? it's a tusk kit in it now. any recommendations on a different brand for about the same price or should i just stick with tusk.

I guess its possible the oil broke down over time. I know the fibers can swell over time. Check them with a micrometer, I just remembered a buddies Banshee did the same thing when he first got it. The fibers were swelled almost 1.5 times as thick as new specs!

Mine does the same thing. It is just from sitting and cold temps. Oil is thick and doesnt flow good when cold. Let your banshee sit and the oil runs out of the clutch pack and the fibers become dry.

Just start it up in Neutral, then rev it up a little and drop it in gear. If it dies doing this then there is a problem.

I would get a FAST clutch if your going to change them out.

the FAST clutch isn't a standard clutch kit is it? aren't some of the parts out of an R1 or something?

I am not for sure what they are. They might be FZ1000 fibers. I would rather have a Larger OEM fiber than a small (narrow) fiber with Kevlar or Carbon Fiber. OEM's use corck wich doesnt make the oil get as dirty as fast and it isnt near as abrasive when there is fragments or grit in your oil. (dirty oil)
