ok so i was thinking of jetting the banshee by myself instead of wasting my money on mechanics . I have in it right now main 190 jets....... i want to put in it some 290 mains! If i just change the main jets to 290, with out changing the pilots, will that affect it?? NOT to sure as i never jetted a banshee before . WAITING FOR AKHEATEN AS HE IS THE EXPERT

I believe I read on another thread he has pipes and maybe a k&n and as of right now is running pretty lean. If this is the case you need to up your jetting soon or you will probably blow your shit up. You can try leaving the 25 pilots in it for now and adjusting the screw and if that doesn't work bump up to 27.5, there are actually a crap load of posts covering this. If you think you are capable of removing the carbs and then eight bolts total on the bowls, then go for it.

umm.. i'm not the expert  i just know how, and learned alot from this site. what's the deal with that carb pic? it wouldn't really work for a banshee. i don't have your setup memorized, so provide the info that i posted about early this morning, and WE can help get you close

From your last post I think you had FMF pipes and K&N filter and you were at 300 feet or something.

I had the same setup with airbox lid on and no snorkel an ran 300 mains and 27.5 pilots. (FMF pipes like 27.5 pilots)

umm what is the reason why you want to jet up to 290's?

tell u what, u probably never had any 190 mains in ur banshee, well u have to rev the shit out of it to get something, it takes it 5sec to hit the power band, u should hear it when it tries to hit the power band, its chugging LOL. And from what i heard the 290's will do and will do its job, and now i know to put 27.5 pilots cause fmf's like them. Plus i am tired of having to rev it and its bad throttle response........5sec to hit the power band is ridiculous i think

Read some of the stickies at the top of the jetting forum and search Banshee jetting FAQ on the web. That will explain to you how to set your carbs correctly.

It feels good to learn to do something yourself. Just have patience and ask for advice if in doubt.

Guessing and rushing will only end badly.

I am not an expert here, well maybe I am. But........The pic he has posted......What's with the round main jet? Is this why you think in your other thread you should have a 165 main? You realize a banshee carb has whole number size jets that go up in increments of 10 right? I.E. 230-240-250-260!

They do come in increments of 5 up tp 200, and from 200, they are in increments of 10...

Here is the deal, a mikuni round which goes in increments of 5 is by default larger than the hex sizes. So a 165 round is way bigger than a 165 hex. I wonder if this is why he thinks he needs a 165 or 175 jet?

Could you possible take a pic of your carbs and a pic of your spark plug ends ( the threaded end). Maybe you have after market carbs and you dont know it. If you have Keihin carbs the jets will be way different from the stockers.

Now with out sounding like a dick, why are you coming on here asking for jetting specs then telling us we are wrong. Your mechanic put 190 mains in your bike and it runs like crap.

the reason for the delayed powerband hit, is because its leaner than F@#$!! i can't believe you haven't smoked the motor yet.

Heres how it goes for a stock banshee.

Mikuni VM26SS roundslide

Pilot jet size:25

Needle:5N7

Needle clip:Middle (clip #3 of 5)

Main jet size:200 (some dealers will provide or install 190, 210 or 220 mains)

Main jets are standard Mikuni small hex mains, available from most bike shops, and come in increments of 10 (210 is one size larger than 200, etc.)

Pilot jets are Banshee-specific, only available from a dealer or a knowledgable shop, and are available in increments of 2.5.

Yamaha pilot jet part numbers:

27.5 Pilot:260-14142-27

30 Pilot:260-14142-30

32.5 Pilot:260-14142-32

35 Pilot:260-14142-35

I am putting the FMF SST Gold Series pipes complete with Power Core 2 Silencers on my 87 Shee, should i get a 27.5 pilot since you guys say the pipes like em?? Any place you guys recommend i buy em from and spare jets? The reason i ask is because i want to support whoever you guys deal with by buying from them. Thanks in advance

Cant wait to see how much these pipes wake the shee up, just got to get reeds next for it. Then after some riding time i want to do some port work, i see all you guys have it done and are happy with it.
