28mm Mikuni flat slide Carbs need starting point

Just picked up a set of new Mikuni 28mm flatslides. Anyone running them? Wanted the PWKs but I got a good deal on these, are they any good or should I just throw them on eBay? What's a good starting point for my mods in my signature?

those are nice carbs.i would run them .not sure on any jetting specs though.

I've got 340's in my stockers. I think they're a little fat. It runs a bit better in the cold. Thinking of trying 340's in the new carbs. Any opinions....

I run 380's-390's in mine. The key with these carbs is the needles, and nozzles being the right size.

bode when you decide to put them carbs on and rejet them let me borrow the 340s i wanna see how they run in a banshee and if you want ill buy them i just wanna see if i want to stick with a stock carb or got to a 30 pwk

Snop, I was hoping you'd chime in here. I got a White Bros kit # 15-440tt. I took a couple photos of the carbs to attach. i just ran out to the garage and pulled the top to check the needle. I think it was a 5L1 but my phone rang while I was putting them back together, before I wrote it down, I got side tracked. Does that sound like the one that should come in the? Are these the same ones you are running? What needle would you recomend with my setup. I have the Toomey needle that came with he pipes in the carbs now I think, but it's been so long since I put them in there and I should have the stock needles too I think. It was a new kit that the guy never installed and I got a pretty good deal on. Was just unsure about where to start. You're saying 390 in yours, not sure what exactly you have though, Is it similar to my setup? I had been thinking about trying the 340s first since it's a little fat with the stockers until you chimed in. What did you mean by nozzles. Thanks in advance.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Yammyboy, no problem. just might be a hassle trying to get them to you though. If you have a shop near you, they are only like 5-6 a pair. If i get up that way soon and I have them off, I'll try to get them to you.

I have a set of those 2, running 280 mains and 20 pilots, seems to run rich, haven't ridden yet though. I'm running a RD 350 motor in my shee. Elevation +- 4500ft temp 15-35 degrees Celsius.

Slide: 2.5

Needle: 5L1 2nd from top

Pilot jet: 30

Main jet: around 380-390

Float height: 22mm

Nozzle: 175 (P4)

Air screw: 2-2.5 turns out

Needle seat: 2.5

 

Number 37 is the nozzle. The main jet screws into it.

Will do, just not sure how long it'll be till I get a chance to really mess with them and feel comfortable giving up my stockers.
