rynophiliac Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 So im currently running K&N's with old worn out outerwears that are stretched out and dont seal on the k&n's with no airbox. This is what came with the bike when i bought it. Evertime I wash it, even if i put a plastic bag over the carbs and air filters i always seem to get some water in there because when i go ride it the throttle stick for about 15 minutes. the problem im having is my bike will run like poo and then itll run great for awhile and then out of nowhere itll start running like crap again. Then itll gradually start running better and then its perfect again?!?! then maybe an hour later its back to running like crap?!?!? I am convinced its the crappy old filters letting crap in my carbs? I am looking to replace them and am just wondering if you guys have any advice as to what is the best filter system. I run mainly in dirt and in the dunes maybe once a year. I have always ran uni foam in the past and have loved them on my other quads, do they make a single uni filter over the two carbs or do i have to get 2 uni's? and ides or suggestions would be helpful. thanks Ryan Quote
lilmegill727 Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 if your not running in muddy dirt then go with K&N pod filters. Quote
donkeypuncher Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 if your not running in muddy dirt then go with K&N pod filters. ^^^ what he said. mud or water dont mix with k&n pods. it basically depends on where you ride. Quote
skinindustries Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 What do you guys suggest if you ride in wet and muddy conditions?? i bought my bike with no airbox. I ride in fields alot, like 99% of the time. Quote
Building my First Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 It sounds like an airbox would be a good idea for you. Or maybe a Toomey 2-1? I got a stock airbox with lid no snorkel, pro design filter or k&n. Give me a call if you want something 269-201-7058 Quote
official_style Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 toomey 2:1 sucks if there is water mud involved, trust me. i just installed cfm airboxes on both my shees, with uni pods with outerwears, i have not run it yet, but it seems like water will not be a problem this year. Quote
