stayblazin Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Why is this? Is it a bad thing? Here are specs on my bike its a 98' ,406 big bore with 4 mil stroker crank, vito crank, forged power pistons, boyessen reeds, cool head with 20cc domes ,barnett clutch, toomey T5s,jet kit,pro design filter. xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 The fix could be as simple as syncing the carbs. i would look into that first. Quote
mailman Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Are you talking about at idle? If so, then I would look for a pilot jet that is clogged. The easiest way to check the carbs is to switch them; put the left carb on the right and vice versa. Now see if the other side smokes more. If so, then you know you have a carb problem. Good luck and let us know if this works. Mailman Quote
swrbansheeboy Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 does it do it cold or after the bike warms up? if after try repacking your silencers... Quote

Mailman i swaped the carbs to see if it was the carbs its not. also i just put brand new sliencers on not too long ago so its deff not that. do u think it could be the piston Quote
pinned247 Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 The same thing happened to me not long after I bought mine. I ran a compression test on it. The right side was on but the left side was way off. I had to replace the pistons. After that....good as new... Quote
mailman Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 A compression test is easy and a good idea. Which side smokes more? If it is the right side then the crank seal could be leaking trans oil into the cylinder. I would do the comp. test first. Good luck. Mailman Quote
swrbansheeboy Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 yep, work your way down from the easy stuff to the hard stuff... do a compression test, if it looks good then do a leak down test. that will tell you if it's a leaky seal... Quote
stayblazin Posted March 4, 2009 Author Report Posted March 4, 2009 (edited) thanks for the help everybody.. im going to do a compersion test today i let you's know it turns out. also how is the seal leak test done?also what type of comperison em i looking for with 20cc domes Edited March 4, 2009 by stayblazin Quote
AKheathen Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 what's your elevation? i would try some fresh gas/premix to rule out separation if your compression checks out within 5 psi of eachother Quote
stayblazin Posted March 5, 2009 Author Report Posted March 5, 2009 (edited) i just checked my compersion its 120 on each side is that good? this is the tester i used http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00902171000P Edited March 5, 2009 by stayblazin Quote

vulvafan537240 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 ?????????????? idk your elevation but the compression should probably be a little higher with 20cc domes. 120 is an acceptable compression tho. Quote
Darthwall Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 are you running an aftermarket head or a stock one? one thing I have noticed with the aftermarket head as im sure many people have is if you pinch an Oring it will leak coolant into that cylinder and the coolant will make a white smoke have you pulled the coolant cap off? if not pull it off and see if there is presure in the radiator when you rev it up cold or hot but dont pull the cap off when it is HOTT! check it out let us know Quote
