banshee372 Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 i just replaced my spark plugs, running 40:1 oil to fuel ration. the right side cylinder only sparks at around 1\4 throttle. is there a problem with my coil? do i need to pull back plug wires and reconnect plugs to wires? if so how do i do it? i went to stealership and they want 160$ for new coil and wires. May be your plug boots. If that doesn't fix it, get your multimeter out and test your stator. Quote

Switch the plug wire and see if the problem switches sides. If you just replaced the plugs im guessing you dont have a wire on all the way Quote
AKheathen Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 i would start by unscrewing the cap, trimming about 1/4", and screwing it back on. do the same at the coil. if you can, ohm the cap while you have it off, and the coil Quote
banshee372 Posted February 6, 2009 Author Report Posted February 6, 2009 thanks for the help guys. i will try it tonight Quote
swrbansheeboy Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 try swaping wires and see if the problem jumps cylinders, if it does then try trimming the faulty wire back at the coil and the cap. that should take care of the problem since the coil fires both plugs at the same time. if the problem switches cylinders and the trimming doesnt correct the problem then you may need to buy a new plug wire or cap. if the problem doesnt swap cylinders then your probably looking at carburation or a compression problem... your sure the gap is correct on both the new plugs?
