blaster2006 Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 (edited) heya, some time ago i disconnected my TORS ( i did not remove the metal huge part over the carb) i just disconnected all the 3 wires, for the TORS. today i was talking to my mechanic, and i told him i disconnected my TORS... he was shocked and told me that was bad because.. he said that what it did was this: It controls your spark from the coils to the plugs, when its running on idle, it gives low spark, so the engine runs cooler, and it only gives high spark when you push the throttle, he said it helps it idle better, as it gives less spark on idle, and more spark the more you gas it. He said its better to connect it, becauseif i leave it like this then it constantly gives high spark at any revs at no matter what throttle, and he said that it wears your engine in the long run, it will wear the motor our much faster like that. is all of this true? official_style Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 tors sucks cock. it fucks with how your shit runs, takes up mad room, looks stupid, and makes the throttle hard to push. Quote
RollinRhino Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 I got stranded because of the TORS when i got caught in the rain once. A noble idea what it was designed to do, but a terrible way they went about making it work. Quote
lokisbuddy Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 kinda unrelated but on my old blaster before i bought the tors removal kit i just unplugged em and had all my buddies (who were new to atv's) convinced it was a high tech carb/fuel injection combo designed to make the two stroke engine wring twice the amount of power per cc of engine. lol after I sold it i told em i was lying lol  Quote
2 Stroke Fury Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Looks like the awnser is simple... Get rid of the TORS... It will only give you problems. Currently mine is unplugged and I have already purchased the kit from Rocky Moutain ATV. It will cost you about 62 bucks from them but if you get it direct from Motion Pro, it will cost about 50 bucks. You might as well eliminate your parking brake also... If you do, make sure you remove the connector also. If you don't, it will not rev correctly. Dont want to poke any fun at your mechanic but I think he should stay away from Banshees! Personally... Getting rid of the TORS and Parking Brake cleaned up alot of space and eliminated some un-needed weight! Quote
official_style Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 i just took the parking brake crap off my 06, have the tors kit just have to slap it in. which is the tors box, so i can remove it? Quote
Facetious Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 (edited) On my 97, if you were sitting on the bike, it is the box on the left, mounted to the frame under the gas tank with one bolt. Edited February 3, 2009 by Facetious 1 Quote
