banshee21 Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 alright got a 2 into 1 35 pwk with a 205 main, 42 pilot, and 1.5 turns out air screw with clip second notch down, with an airbox without a lid and K&N filter rest of the specs are in my sig. now ran great in the summer elavation in ohio is about 1200ft. now I got it out for the first time in the winter and starts up great and low to mid range it just falls on its face but top end runs great and suggestions would be awesome. this is the first winter I have owned the bike and have been dieing to get out there in the snow but not running like this and the temps around here are about 20 degrees so I am sure some jetting changes need to be made but not sure why it does run for crap low and mid. dajogejr Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 Jetting changes are required from summer to winter temps. http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html Quote
Dinner Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 (edited) Jetting changes are required from summer to winter temps. Agreed! You will be running the engine lean during the winter = no good  Colder air is more dense than warmer air, since you are getting more air into the carbs/engine during winter. You have to up the mains and possibly the pilot jet in order to keep the same ratio as you did in the summer. Edited January 19, 2009 by Dinner Quote
banshee21 Posted January 19, 2009 Author Report Posted January 19, 2009 sense it runs good top end, would i need to change the main its just low to rid range is wheere it dies out should i bump up a couple pilots if so how much its got a 42 now Quote
harbinger of death Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 it's running good on top because its lean. they'll just scream when they're lean but you're going to melt a hole in your piston. I leaned out one side due to an exhaust leak and it sputtered like hell bottom and mid, but screamed on top until it went bang Quote

shogs Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 I have to run a 52-55 pilot, a 195 main, and a cel needle all the way on the bottom to get mine to run right. Its really trial and error. Remember idle to 1/4 is pilot and your idle screw, 1/4 to 3/4 is needle, and full throttle is your main. Its really really cold here (20-40) and the winter jetting is nothing like your summer jetting no matter what it is. Oh yea, my mods are just vf3,s cool head, and a 2-1 stage 5 from trinity. Quote
banshee21 Posted January 22, 2009 Author Report Posted January 22, 2009 alright been messing around with the jetting and it is almost about perfect. ran out of daylight today tomorrow I am goin to mess with the clip settings. I ended up outting a 55 pilot and I have a 220 main which beleive it or not seems to be just fine. Quote
