botlfed306 Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 (edited) What do you guys think about running 100oct. On a stock motor with fmf pipes and silencers, v force 3 reeds stock air box in michigan in the summer time temps? The reason im asking is 2 times now that i bought 93 i got bad gas since gas prices have been so high i would asume the gas has been sitting in the gas stations tanks for ever. I would rather buy 100 from a local shop for a little more money and not have to go through the hassle of shit gas. Also what do you guys mix banshees at i here alot about 40:1 but i have been running mine at 32:1 Edited January 16, 2009 by botlfed306 Quote
2001Stroker Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 You only need to run 93. You'd be wasting your money buying 100 octane. Really, you could probably use 91. Alot of cars have to run on high octane pump gas. It really doesn't sit as much as you would think. What's bad about the gas that you're buying? Is it seperating? Is it sludging up? Quote
jbooker82 Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 If your going to run race fuel why not get a cool head and up the compression? That way you will benifet from running it. It will give you more midrange. josh Quote
botlfed306 Posted January 16, 2009 Author Report Posted January 16, 2009 I am going to put a cool head on it, i just wanted to get some other stuff done on it first. I put 2 tanks of 93 from 2 differnet staions in it and it ran like shit put 87 in it ran fine so i would asume that the gas was there for a while. I can get the 100 for pretty cheap. Quote
RIPPEN Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 put nitromethane in it. Um... I find this post funny.. RIPPEN Quote
botlfed306 Posted January 17, 2009 Author Report Posted January 17, 2009 Um... I find this post funny.. RIPPEN Maybe i should just turn the bottle on and forget the gas and see how that works. Quote

Kinda makes me wonder whats been posted that I havn't caught.. RIPPEN who me? I REALLY dont expect anyone would actually use that. Was sorta sarcastic. Sorry, still be my friend? Im frustrated so Im taking it out on alot of innocent bistandards. please dont use any CH3NO2. Id consider it more an explosive than a fuel. Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Anyone with common sense will realize he's joking. You are fine on 93. If you want to run race fuel, up the compression to 155+ psi by use of a Coolhead and domes. Quote
brian Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 If it runs good on 87 why don't you just use that ? There is nothing macho about using a higher octane rating than you need. It can actually hurt your performance. Tho I dont believe that 100 octane will hurt anything but your wallet. Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 The 93 octane you got was bad gas? I didn't catch that part before his post above. ^ Same gas station? They could be adding shit to get more money out of it, or have tank problems. I'd believe that before it being because the gas sat so long (unless you let it sit, and it began to separate oil/gas.) I found a local station that had water in there gas before! But it was in my truck, so I wasn't as mad, lol. It wasn't a lot either, but it did run a bit choppier. Try a new gas station if that's the case. Quote
