Misssppelllleddd Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 I don't know why but I try to adjust my clutch and it still catches some. Could it be my mods? Mods in sig. Do I have enough hp to where i would need a lockup? Whenever I'm in neutral I pull the clutch lever and put the shee in 1st gear and it will jolt forward and die. If I increase the rpm's then try to put it in gear then it is fine. As I ride more and the engine gets hotter I notice that the engine bogs a little bit whenever I pull the clutch and just sit in place and if I gas it a little bit then it will creep forward a little. Would a clutch lockup help with the creeping? I use 80w Golden Spectro and I have the Hinson 8 plate clutch system. The clutch has probably about 30 hours on it. I'm completely stumped on this. Quote
kawiking Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 sounds like u just need to adjust ur clutch. u 'll need a lock up with a bigger motor. (hp) 100 hp.... or so.. or if u do alot of drag racing. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 i didnt read your sig to see how much power your bike has as far as the lockup goes, but when I put in my 8 plate i noticed that i could no longer use the arrows to adjust my clutch. What i do to adjust it is: pull the springs and bolts, loosen the adjuster and turn the screw all the way out. Put the pressure plate on and start turning the screw in until you feel it hit the ball and rod. Then backoff the screw about 1/4 turn. bolt everythign back up and give it a shot. Make sure your lever is turned all the way in and that your cable isnt old as shit. Quote

You should have a override tans if you run a lock up otherwise they are hard to shift. Quote
Misssppelllleddd Posted December 30, 2008 Author Report Posted December 30, 2008 what about pancake bearings for the clutch? what advantages do those give? Quote
Bansh-eman Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Doc W covered he pancake in your other post Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 I had to adjust mine the same way greg, like he said come off of it a 1/4 turn cause when you go to tighten your springs to your pressure plate it gives a little and knocks the alignment off the arrow on the top of the case that is. Pancake pusher is a must, great insurance part for under 50 bucks. Quote
FASTOYS Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 You do not need a lockup. Sounds like you have clutch issues of some sort. Maybe adjustment... Quote
