Scrap2000 Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 (edited) I'm about to rebuild the lower and upper I went .20 over i'm trying vitos power piston. new trued welded stock crank stock stroke. I have Toomey T5 pipes. air box with full lid no snorkel. My Main jets are 280 and pilots are 25....26mm stock carbs..where do i start....temp is cold here like 10 degree F but it should stay around 30 or higher for the winter. so i'm looking for a good start for winter jetting and summer jetting. I'm 544.6ft above sea level. Edited December 23, 2008 by Scrap2000 Quote
vulvafan537240 Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 what exactly is the question? if you only bored the jugs, i dont think you would have to change the jetting. Quote
Scrap2000 Posted December 24, 2008 Author Report Posted December 24, 2008 what exactly is the question? if you only bored the jugs, i dont think you would have to change the jetting. Now that you said what you said, I'm kinda rethinking it...makes sense..I guess my new question is this..Vito's Power Piston's are like doing a hand port job. I'm not sure about real hand porting, like if you need to rejet them...if you do then i would think you would need to rejet for these pistons. Do I need to rejet for the break-in period? This is my first rebuild and I want to make sure I'm not missing something. Thanks for the reply though. Quote
2slow350 Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 Putting vitos pistons in are nothing like porting a motor or like you say hand porting one by putting pistons in a bike. I believe it may run a lil better do to changing from factory cast(heavier) pistons over to your new forged(lighter) pistons, but jetting should stay the same.. Jmo Also I'd recommend wisecos next time, bc I heard vitos pistons are shorter and tend to wear out faster.. Quote

BTW these pistons are wiseco pistons. They have 2 of the same pistons on there page one made by wiseco USA or what i believe to be jap scrap is non usa not made by wiseco. click here for pistons i have Edited December 24, 2008 by Scrap2000 Quote
2slow350 Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 No I wouldn't rejet for breakin. I've broke them both ways and never had a problem unless it was going to happen. 1) get on it and ride the crap out of it 2) or start it up and let it warm up and cool down a couple times to let the rings set in, then next time out just don't give it hell , after that your should be fine.. Your pic didn't work; by the way wiseco makes vitos pistons I believe, just different specs.. Quote

vulvafan537240 Posted December 25, 2008 Report Posted December 25, 2008 ive seen the post that i think you were trying to post the link to and yes the vitos pistons are made by wiseco (custom made to vitos specs) and they claim that using their pistons is like porting the jugs. i cant believe that they are anything comparable to porting, and i wouldnt say that you should go and change the jets right away. i would do a plug chop after re torqing the head nut each time after a few heat cycles. firebanshee Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 You should start your motor and let it go through a couple of heat cycles and then retorque the head, then after you ride it you could double check the torque.Just my thoughts. I know some guys that had good luck with those vito power pistons as long as your cylinder is not allready ported, you can jet a little fatter during break in just to be safe and it is colder this time of year.
