tested the compression.... only have 120 on both sides. I'm kind of new to banshees, but that sounds way low, especially for my mods

unless you're running 18 or 19cc domes, that compression seems fine too me, aside from the fact that that it's even on both sides, which says good right there. did you check your pickup gaps?

I haven't checked the gaps, but both plugs are firing perfectly.... should I still check it? I'll list all my mods:

A&S stage III port

A&S shaved head-not sure how much

Lightened Flywheel

+4 timing

Fresh bore 40 over

Wiseco Pistons

Pro Design intake with a boost bottle(i know, i know...Like I said, new to Banshees)

VF2 Reeds(bought used)

34mm Alky PJ's

K&N Pods

RDZ inframes

Welded/Trued Crank

....not sure if any of this will make a difference, but I though I should list it just in case.

ok, compression is good, rulled out reeds, plugs, caps/wires, air leaks, and if the carbs aren't overflowing, and drain the same amount, them too for rue out. fuel comming out of the pipe says it's not burning at idle in that cylinder. the plugs fire at top and bottom from the nodes on both sides of the flywheel. if it is out of round, or loose on the shaft, one gap will be closer than the other, causing it to fire only on the closer one at low rpm's. this means that it only fires when the left is on top, and right on bottom. i have also heard of the magnets coming loose too. this, or a pinched pipe is about the only thing left i would suspect. if the carbs ran great and you had this prob before, then syncing them after install would have shown a problem with the cables/ slides. not much else to check

Thanks for your help AK and everyone else.... I'll check those pickup gaps. If they're on, I'll just live with one smokin pipe at idle. Seemed to run good under power, just was worried I wasn't getting everything it could potentially produce. Guess I'll find that out at the dunes & drags this summer.... Can't wait!!

Just wish there was someone local like FAST or RDZ that I could have tune it for me, o well I'll just do the best I can. JD from JDScustoms has been helping a lot too, he's the one that did the initial tune for me.... Great guy by the way, does great work too.

Thanks again for everyone's help!!!!

Bought the motor from a pretty reputable guy, he sells a lot of stuff on here and he said everything was tight. I'm trying to come up with a compression tester, I'll let you guys know what I come up with there.

im very new to this but im having the exact same prob with a 4 mill trinity bike that i just purchased. James at trinity put the motor together and they broke it in. and now im getting nothing from the right side either and he said to put new plugs in and if it wasnt that it could have a main seal leak

Thanks for the suggestion, ya the tank is full of alky. We checked through the carbs, floats, etc. before installing.

I have the same problem. Some stock stators wont run alky. I put another stator on it from my 350 and it fixed it. Switched them back and it doesnt fire on one side.

Well that I haven't heard yet.... Who makes the best stator?

Your best bet is a stock stator if your going to run lights. PVL if your not ricky stator suck for alky

i had a simillar problem on one of my alky motors.i was getting no smoke out the left cylinder and alot out of the right.thought it was a carb/reed problem.after driving myself insane...i saw that tranny fluid was getting into the crank from the straight cut/water pump gear key.alittle trades bond around the key and gears solved the problem..maybe your problem isnt the one that doesnt smoke its the one that does..check it out.

this might be a stupid question, but should I have put a gasket between the intake and reed cage? I put one between the cages and cylinders, but wasn't sure if I needed to put one between the intake and cages....

Unless you used a high-temp rtv silicone, I would have.

This is pretty normal...Mine did it the other day, after doing some research on it i found several people complaining about the same problem....

After i noticed it was doing it I still rode it out in glamis, it ran absolutely perfect...

If the jetting is correct etc, just ride the thing get it to operating temps then check it out...It should be fine..
