shee4speed Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 I was wondering if these are as wide open as they go. I have the FAST extenders for the carb tops and think I can get a little more. Quote
Dick Wheels Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 Once you cant see the slides anymore, they are as far open as they will go. I don't think you will achieve anything by trying to get them to open any farther Quote
RIPPEN Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 When you peg it firmly you should kinda hear the click or thud of the slids stoping at the top.. So Ill nail it like Iam drag racing and feel inside to see if you can physicaly push them up anymore.. If you can't you should be good.. RIPPEN Quote
shee4speed Posted December 14, 2008 Author Report Posted December 14, 2008 so the little amount that hangs down is normal? Quote
Dick Wheels Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 If you look threw the carbs the slides should just not be visible. see if you can push them up with your finger. if so you should be able to jet a little more outta them Quote
shee4speed Posted December 14, 2008 Author Report Posted December 14, 2008 thats as far as they go in the pics. The stock carbs slides disappear completely. These have a little of the slide down like in the pics. hmmmm. Quote
RollinRhino Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 PWKs aren't as bad as some of the Mikunis for the reason that if the needles get loose or bent a wide open throttle can stick open. Be careful what you wish for. Quote
Titan up Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 I ran mine for half of last season with them down further than that until I noticed it. I bought the longer threaded adjusters and I honestly can't tell any difference in power with the slides going all the way up now. Just adjust it a turn or two at the thumb throttle and they'll come up all the way. Quote

Dick Wheels Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 Check the springs above the slides. I actually just had a similar issue with my pwk 28's. The springs were in upside down and my slides wouldn't go all the way up. I'm not sure about your springs though but mine have a clip at 1 side that goes in the slide so when they were in upside down it was causing them to not open fully. Quote
shee4speed Posted December 14, 2008 Author Report Posted December 14, 2008 I have the shorter springs from FAST. I dont think theres an up or down side. Quote
Titan up Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 I checked that and there is no more slack for adjustment. Try backing out the threaded adjusters on the carb tops then. Quote
BigRed350x Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 (edited) Put the stock adjusters back in and try it. Never had a single problem with any of the keihin's I've ever had not getting enough adjustment. I've had 33's, 3 sets of 35's, 38's and 39's. All of them adjust closed to fully open with the stock adjusters. Ditch the FAST stuff and go back to stock. You don't need to buy any kind of special spring for the carbs either. Just take a pair of cutters and remove the first 2 turns from the spring. Makes it plenty easy to pull. Edit: Is your throttle cable new? If its an older cable you could have some stretch issues. Keep in mind that some places actually sell longer cables for bigger carbs like the 41's and 42's etc. You might have a longer cable which isn't letting you get the full range of motion out of the slides. moneybags Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 What size carbs do you have. I could get my 35's to open up with out any problems. But my 39's they requiers some moding to the thumb throttle. The carbs in the pic need to be open more. Quote
