Goffy Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Hi All, Machine was running great and the stator went out about a week ago, I installed a new ricky stator fired up machine (2nd kick) and noticed machine was only running on 1 cylinder, blowing white smoke and oil out of exhaust on dead cylinder. I checked and cleaned plugs verified spark on both cylinders (both good), Ckecked compression, 110psi on both cylinders. Checked air/mixture screw (2 turns). So I'm guessing its either a broken reed or carburator, I'll check those tomorrow. Any other thoughts or ideas would be great. Thanks, Tim Quote

AKheathen Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 (edited) Hook up the elec. harness on the carbs? Assuming there stock the carb wires run in series, so it just wouldn't idle. i'm assuming you ran the rs flywheel too. i've them be out of time, out of round, and magnets come loose. just search "rs junk" or "ricky stator" on here, and you'll see what i mean. but i'm warning you, there are probably an assload of posts on it  oh, and check your pickup gap on both sides Edited December 9, 2008 by AKheathen Quote

Thanks, Tim Remember i just purchased this machine only a few weeks ago and its never really ran right, thats why i only gave 500.00 for it. Problem solved: The problem turned out to be multiple problems. 1st i had a faulty plug (poor spark), 2nd the float on the carb was not closing all the way causing it to constantly pour gas into the carb, 3rd the throttle valves were mixed up and way out of sync. So i took care of those issues and synced the carbs and she ran perfect. WOW what a lesson. Thanks for all your suggestions and advice. Tim Quote
shee4speed Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 wow 500.00 is a great deal.Especially for a bike that runs now with little put into her. Show some pics of the bike. Quote
firebanshee Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 I would do yourself a favor and change the stock coil wire caps that go onto the spark plugs with NGK caps, the stock ones go bad and sometimes they are tricky to diagnose. It is not a matter of if they will go bad it is a matter of when, and they only cost about $6 a piece.
