quikshee Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 I just got my shee running for the first time in a few months, and a problem still persists. When I try to take off from a complete stop it starts to bog, lose power, and not want to move unless I rev it up pretty high. Then there is the mystery noise, it will screech a tiny bit once in a while. I pulled the entire motor, tore off the bottom end, and found nothing visibly wrong. I put her back together got it started and now I am back where I started. The quad runs awesome but only acts up when I take off and while moving. I'm freakin lost on this fellas, PLEASE HELP!! Quote
Paddleboy Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 does it seem like a jetting issue or clutch? Quote
quikshee Posted December 7, 2008 Author Report Posted December 7, 2008 Definitely clutch or trans related, but i can't for life of me figure this out. The engine runs like a champ, so I don't think it should be jetting. Quote

Hold the back end up and see how the axle spins. Quote
fastrthnu Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 turn your air screws in a turn or so and see if it improves at all Quote

What would I look for when I spin the axle? Quote
BUILDER Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 (edited) You may be right, I did notice that when I stood up on the pegs and wiggled side to side it was kinda sloppy in the rear. What would I look for when I spin the axle? Put a five gallon bucket under the middle of you bike and when you spin the rear axle see how hard it turns. It should turn nice and smooth. I am guessing your noise is the bearings trying to lock up. If you turn it and they are bad you will know it. Also there should be no play side to side if it moves at all your bearings are out. Let us know what you find out. Edited December 11, 2008 by motor builder Quote
quikshee Posted December 11, 2008 Author Report Posted December 11, 2008 OK I put it up on a jack stand and started to spin the axle and it started to bind a bit. I can move the axle up and down about a 1/2 inch too. I think we found the culprit  When I Buy the new bearings do i have to buy seals for the bearings or would something like this work..http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Banshee-Rear-Axle-Bearing-Set-of-2-NEW-Bearings_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ150287893005QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessor ies Quote

LOL if it moves up and down a half inch there are out for sure. You really need to put the seals in also when you do the bearings. I have the numbers around some were for the bearings so you can just go buy them at a local parts store. They are way cheaper that way and good bearings. I will see if i can find were i wrote those numbers down at. Quote
quikshee Posted December 11, 2008 Author Report Posted December 11, 2008 That would be great if i could run up to the parts store and grab a couple bearings for cheap, Can I get the seals there too? Anyone know the numbers for em? Quote

travis6767 Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 bearings and seal shouldnt cost you anymore than $30-$40 Quote
BUILDER Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 bearings and seal shouldnt cost you anymore than $30-$40 Ok here you go. The bearing number is 6007-2RJS that is a good number at napa and the seal number is 16898 that number is good at napa also o the seal number is a c/r number if they ask you. Quote
firebanshee Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 Can't you also pop off the inner seals on the bearings and install a gease zerk in your carrier tube so you can keep them greased ? I did this to my bikes that didn't have a greasable carrier. Quote
