Will this F up my title?

I threw a chain and chipped some of my case top half. Now I've got the whole motor out and apart putting in a new crank so I figured I'd buy a new top half. I picked one up from Minkia one of his ebay auctions.

 

Now will this fuck up any legal issues? The title is for frame only right? But we still have to go down to the license department and buy the Ohio sticker and register it there if we want to ride in Ohio state parks its like 8 bucks or something like that. But will it be a big hassle or just a simple in and out?

The police take it and return it to it's rightful owner. Then you could possibly/likely get charged for buying/receiving stolen property. It sucks, but you're expected to make sure things aren't stolen before you purchase it.

Back to my case question. Should I just call the DMV and tell them I got it from ebay and ask them to run it and see what comes up?

dont tell them you already have them if they come back stolen you dont want to already own them whether u do already or not.

No what you do is call the or go down to the police department with the number in your hand from the new case, explain the situation and see if they can run the numbers for you "because you just wanted to make sure before you bought it, that it was legit" Also i didn't think you could just buy a top half because each case is matched for each other. Like you can't take this top half and put it on your bottom half because they weren't machined at the same time.

Exactly. DMV has nothing to do with engine serial numbers, just VIN's. The cops/dispatchers have to run them through NCIC.
