AKheathen Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 sorry i forgot to add what it has. 34 pj's. boysen pro reeds. t5's. cool head. yea the trotttle respose was good before they were replaced. it bogs down everytime it gets a little gas. it has good spark. so i dont think its anything electrical. im leaning twords carb issues. oh yah, i see. :geek: you changed the airflow charicaturistics, so it needs change in jetting. the return pulses running backwards past the jets causes a double enrichment effect. better reeds= weaker backpulse=less fuel. moove your needle clips down2 knotches and see how that does. if it runs good go warm it up, see how it sounds. crisp, loud, and resonating is what you want. zingy, higher pitched=too lean. lower, almost soft and garbled= too rich. get it warmmed up, and if it sounds good up to 3/4 throttle, the pilot circut is right. while its still warmmed up, give it a couple wot shots, and see how that sounds = main jets don't do the wot shots if the pilots still sound lean sorry i forgot to add what it has. 34 pj's. boysen pro reeds. t5's. cool head.yah, with your setup, shee wants fuel :woot: Quote
AKheathen Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Thanks for the tips. In my case, it was the parking brake switch. I followed your instructions and it fired right up. Really snaps through those T6s! Appreciate the good advice. glad to hear it helped  Quote

Wildcardracing Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 Sounds like a rich condition to me. What is your jetting, mods and elevation? I know I've discussed your setup before, but can't remember. Did you replace the carbs and reeds, or just the reeds? Quote

Did you replace the carbs and reeds, or just the reeds? i replaced just the reeds. weisco pro-lites, t5's, 34 pj's, k&n pods, cool-head 17cc's, the main jets are 170 and pilots 38. the other day it was running pretty good. did a lug check and the plugs looked pretty good. the carbs came on the bike and the look pretty worn out. im thinking they might shot? Wildcardracing Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 The boyesens usually require a size smaller main and sometimes a clip richer on the needle if any jetting changes at all. I'm not as good with Kehin's as Mikuni's, but 170 mains on 34's sounds rich to me. Others may chime in here on the jetting, but my recommendation is to do a good plug chop...not just pull the plugs and look at them. Have you checked your flywheel key? I have seen bikes shear them and be slightly retaded on the timing, which can cause it not to rev...But, the low rpm would be somewhat rough as well. Also, check all of your electrical conections to make sure they are clean and tight. Just a couple of things to look into. Quote

What is your elevation? What octane of fuel have you been running 17cc domes require race gas if you are around sea level. Quote
AKheathen Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 does it vibrate at idle? did you sync the carbs? you'd be supprized what shows up when you tery to sync them. maybey a prob withn the cables when you replaced the reeds Quote
