killshee Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 i would make sure it has a 50/50 mix anitfreeze and also depending on how much u r gunna ride it ....take the gas out bc it will just go bad anyhow thats all i would do....anyone else feel free to add more or correct if im rong :geek: Quote
2001Stroker Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Yup, just make sure it has at least 50% anti-freeze. If you plan on riding it during the winter months, keep the gas tank full. That way it doesn't create condensation in the tank. Cause you know, water is heavier than gas. And like killshee said, if you don't plan on riding it, empty the tank so the gas doesn't go bad. Don't forget to drain the bowls. If you use leaded racing fuel, you should be ok to let it sit for a couple of month without any problems. EDIT: Grease all of your fittings. That way if there is any water in the joints, the grease will push it out. You don't want water freezing in those joints. It could cause someting to crack or break. Quote
hercalmighty Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 If you have engine ice or wetter water in your shee drain it and put antifreeze in it. Drain the gas. Make sure its nice and clean. Make sure the chain is clean and lubed up. Other then that not much. Quote
BansheeRider87 Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 how do you drain the anti freeze? pull the hose off next to the clutch cover? Quote
Tapatalk Posted November 10, 2008 Author Report Posted November 10, 2008 Yeah I do have engine ice in there, that wont work sitting below freezing temps? Quote
killshee Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 thats how i drained mine im not sure they have a drain plug or not..... Quote
hercalmighty Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 I dont think so. I use Honda coolant. Its already premixed and good to use in bikes. I've been using it for 15 years without any problems. Check the Clymers manual but yeah I think you pull the hose off and open up the drain bolts on the jugs. If you get most of the coolant out and fill it back up with the antifreeze you should be good Quote
Michael Jackson Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 (edited) you dont need to drain engine ice, im not sure exactly how cold they say it goes to befoe it freezes, but it damn sure gets well below freeszing here in jersey, ive never had any problems im sure u know to fatten your jetting as well, if your gona be riding in the snow and freezin temps Edited November 10, 2008 by Michael Jackson Quote

Tapatalk Posted November 11, 2008 Author Report Posted November 11, 2008 alright cool, one less thing i have to do. thx Quote
locogato11283 Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 drain the coolant and fill it with straight water... its also a good idea to drain the gas and fill the tank with water. turn your petcock to on and let the carbs fill with water as well.. this will help to ensure easy starting once spring rolls around. ive also heard to drain the tranny oil and put diesel in there.. but i cant verify whether or not thats helpful.
