I may be slightly rich on the jetting, but not horribly. It seems like I have troubles where, if I don't down shift to get the RPM up and just give lots of throttle, the engine sometimes starts missing and running like crap. As soon as I drop a gear or pull the clutch, it clears and everything is fine. Is this fouling plugs? is this an indication that my carb setup is worse than I thought or something?

well it depends on how low you in the RPM you are when you hammer it, its NOT a 4 poke it will not pull slowly till its gets up into the RPM range it will just flood the cylinders, foul plugs, and glaze the cylinders. how does it run from putting about half throttle to mashing it? does it seeam really boggy or is it fine?

Not that low... maybe 3500 or 4000 rpm. It is a stroker so I am not killing it at too low of rpm. I am not sure if it happens if I only use half throttle (probably not). It just happens at times it is kinda inconvenient to downshift and I figure I can throttle it into the powerband.

I have PWK carbs. there is no TORS.

I have the same problem with the sputtering. Mine sputters only after like 10 15 minutes after warming up I guess enough time to heat the coil up. I tried everything from new filter, rejetting, and different octane level. Nothing would work. I have a temp gauge so I know its not over heating. I just ordered the Ricky coil so I will have it tomorrow but wont be able to test it for a few days least till the rain passes so I will let you know if that fixes it.

I think it was just a rich condition.

It turned out I was getting the wrong indications from plug chops, and I was too rich.

I have been slowly leaning it out, and am getting better behavior.

Be prepared to be disappointed...Ricky Stator electrics are JUNK.

Coils don't need to be heated up...if they're gonna fail, they often do so once warm.

Check your compression. I'd bet it's low, and it's blowing oil/fuel past the rings until it heats up.

To the original poster, check your stator, your grounds and spark plug wire end caps.
