'04limited Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 since my rebuild i have noticed that the kick start has been rattling it never did before, if you mess with the kickstarter sometimes it will stop rattling until you start the bike again. my question is why is it rattling and did i put something together wrong? will it hurt any thing to ride the bike like this? 2001Stroker Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Just buy a rebuld kit for the kickstarter. Comes with a new o-ring, ball bearing and spring that pushes on the bearing. They're cheap. I need to do mine, too. Quote

huskyohilux Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 will it hurt any thing to ride the bike like this? Except the anoing noise the kick lever will wear some on the trans cover. Maybe take the paint away and some material off the cast aluminium as well. No big deal, though...but since it's so cheap and easy to fix it, just buy a rebild kit. Or take it apart and replace the o-ring if you have one laying around. Quote

'04limited Posted October 28, 2008 Author Report Posted October 28, 2008 its not actually the kick start rattling against the case it sounds like its internal, if you take the kick start and push it down like you were going to start the bike with your hand after it's running you can get the noise to stop. jjn56 Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Mine sounds like santa clause coming down the road it rattles so bad, I put a large rubber band around the kick and through one of the frame holes and it works great. I don't even have to take it off to kick start it. Quote

Douse the SOB in WD40. My kicker was being a bitch so I never installed the kit I got...and after several WD40 dousings in an attempt to loosen up the screw, it fixed itself. Quote
