to help you understand think of the needles taper. If you drop the clip (raise the needle) you make the taper come out of the main jet more, this allows more fuel thus making it richer. And if you raise the clip (lower the needle) , it restricts the fuel and makes it leaner

Stock banshee needles have five grooves. The Toomey/Dynojet needles have six grooves.

ok i have toomey pipes and k&n with stock complete rebuilt motor and 320 mains dry faul the plugs i put 380 main in and it has plug color and runs good but i feel something is wrong

Dont know your elevation but your prolly way to fat on your mains. Is that a k&n in air box or pods? put clip on 3rd or 4th groove and air screws 1 1/2 out from being seated lightly. You were prolly closer with the 320s... still depending on your ele.

i have fattys and k&n pods and my shee only likes the middle clip.. if i drop it one it has a bog from hell. they are all different i had to play with mine alot to figure it out.

my elevation is 500 ft. when i had 320 main in it the plug burned up within 1/4 mile really white dry faul. had lots of power befor it burned up tho.i put 380 in it and plug color was good but isnt running good in the bottom and mid. im thinking that i might have a air leak somewhere . so if i spray starting fluid around all the carb boots and head will that tell me if there is a leak,or not? i have k&n pod filters.

Yes, around boots, I dont want to steer you wrong but I still think your to rich. jmo
