paint frame with motor still in?

Never done it but it will look like shit because theres no way of getting everything hit correctly with paint with that motor sitting in there...Not that hard to pull it out man...Strip it all down and then paint it...Or powdercoat it..

Strip the frame and powdercoat it man. Looks much better and lasts alot longer. And you can get powdercoat in any color, flat, semi-gloss, high gloss, noen, etc., and even with metal flakes. Before you get it done though, cut off any brackets that aren't needed anymore, and grind them smooth. More time and a little more money. But, you will be much happier with the end result.

If you are just touching it up with the same color, I guess it could be possibly. Such as touching up the boot scuffs on the sides.

just tear it down and get it powdercoated u will be so happy with the finished product!!!

i touched up my frame, threw a rag over the motor, and held a piece of cardboard to cover where i didnt want to get over spray, and it looks like new still, but i only would do it the same color.

I seen this thread and few days ago and didnt want to say anything at first but...........Ive done it before. I just tapped the motor off and painted everything from handle bars down flat black. My banshee looked like something out of that movie Water World. Buuut I ride pretty rough trails. My quad pretty much stays muddy. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone that cares even the slightest about looks. I did get a few people that told me it was unique. It was better than the purple anyway.
