notsed Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 everything else works great. i was on my second tank of fuel on fresh crank and top end. and all of a sudden it starts popping out of second, but only when it has a good load and it pops back in when i let off. so when i had it appart the tranny looked to be in good shape. the only things i changed was modded shift star and from bellray 80 wt to atf type f. any ideas? Paddleboy Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 i kinda have the same problem as you but mine is when i go to shift into 3rd it drops back in second. but its not often. hope someone can tell us what it can be Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 I would check the shift adjust bolt and make sure the shifting mechanism is properly adjusted before going any farther. it is the eccentric bolt behind the clutch basket... Quote
notsed Posted October 11, 2008 Author Report Posted October 11, 2008 yea im thinking the adjuster came loose or something, i put it together last week and adjusted it then(with blue locktite) it worked fine on the first tank. maybe its the atf because it doesnt start popping out until ive been riding a while, im goin to pull the cover off and put bellry 80wt back in ill let you know if that helps Quote
notsed Posted October 12, 2008 Author Report Posted October 12, 2008 yep, that made no differnce. what else could it be besides forks? Quote
fast500#12 Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 go back to 80wt. the atf foams up and wont let the clutch fibers and steels seperate because of the air bubble act like scution cups and can cause you to bend shift forks kinda like not useing the clutch to shift. it shifts fine for the first 5 mins you ride doen't it? double check the adjuster make sure it isn't bent and get that sucker dead center. it will probably take a few oil changes to get all of the atf out. atf works great if you only run 300ft and then shut down and wait till next round. notsed Posted October 13, 2008 Author Report Posted October 13, 2008 i switched back to 80wt and re-adjusted, it still does it. so it must be a bent shift fork then shitty, any other ideas? Quote
sinbanshee Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 did you look close at all your gears also one could be worn wich would keep it popping out Quote
