Hi everyone my name is Victor and I just got a banshee about a month ago and I love it.This is my first one so I know very little about them although I've learned a lot just by searching on here.Well I've searched here and haven't really come up with a straight answer.Well I went out this past weekend after finally getting some paddles out to ride.So a couple of us start racing and only one that can beat me is my friends 05 trx450r.From what I know its bored to 470cc and he gets me by about 2 to 3 bikes.Just woundering what I can do to my banshee to beat him pretty easily. All he does it tash talk banshees and I just want to show him up.As far as mods so far is fmf fattys,vf3 reeds, trinity 2-1 carb setup with 35 keihn carb, dune port,+4 swingger. This is how I got it and the guy I bought it from told me this was what was done to it.I drag and trail ride most of the time. The trails we go on are mostly open.I want to know what you guys think I should do to my bike to hold its own.Im thinking of getting a timing plate and doing 4 degrees of advance. What kind of difference would that make. From what i have read on here its a good starting point. Thanks in advance for any input.

1. swing arms to long - the more your tires are under you and your weight the better traction your ganna get.

2. pull your carb off and reeds out and check to see if youre even ported, iv heard guys say their ported and come to find out they dont have any porting cause if youre a newb you dont really know what a ported bike feels like. plus who when your looking to buy a bike its not like you pull the carbs off and check in the first place right? cause you dont want to take apart a bike thats not even yours...

3. you need better riding skillz

4. he has alot more done to his bike then meets the eye?...

Im launching in 2nd gear and it still picks up the front end.Well the guy I bought it from didn't do the work.He bought it off another guy the supposebly built banshees or was a bike mechanic.I forgot to mention he also told me it had wiseco pistons in it.How can I tell if its been ported? My friend also has a pipe and filter on his bike...should i be beating him?Yea I learn something new everytime I go riding. Thanks

Will going back to a twin carb setup make that much of a difference?I can get a set of stock carbs with intake and everything for pretty cheap. How hard is it to go back?sorry for all the questions just trying to learn what I can.

if your gonna run the stock carbs and if you are already ported.intake boots carbs throttle cable and atleast some 310 mains or bigger.what gearing are you running.also what is you buddy riding.you ask if you should be beating him but you didnt say what he is riding.i would check to see if your timing is advanced either a adjustable plate or a off set fly wheel key.seems like with your mods and if your ported they would have done a timing advance.also who ported it and if and when they ported it did they do the head work with the porting makes a serious difference.what is your compression readings that could tell you alot.with your porting did they say run pump gas or race fuel.im running factory cylinders and factory head and am almost 15:1 compression on race gas with drag port.and then again you may be ported and 450r boy may have a long parts list.time will tell i guess.i would take the advice on the 2 carb set up you will have more on the big end.if you running a 14 tooth fornt sprocket try a 15 tooth.tall gearing is for stock if you have more hp than stock you should be able to pull gearing the other way.tall gear could be good 4 you in tight trails get the rpm quicker.

The bike I'm trying to beat is my friends trx450r.All I know about it is that he dumped about $2500 on it.Im running stock gearing right now.I noticed when I'm racing once I go to 5th gear it kinda just cruises and doesn't pull as hard.Is that due to the 2-1 car setup? When I take off the carb and reeds how do I tell if its ported or not?The guys i bought it off didnt know much about it.Im going to check my compression today to see where its at.Thanks for everyone's advice.

your 2 into 1 system is designed to produce torque and throttle response, good for corner to corner or tight trail riding.it makes power for low end and mid range.for open areas the twin carb set up is going to help you allot after dialing in the jetting and air flow.i was telling you in my last post to you drop to a 14 tooth counter shaft sprocket.it will let your motor see more rpms in 5th and 6th gear.will also accelerate quicker.if you have seen a stock set of cylinders you would know what to look for right off the bat to know if your cylinder have been ported, compare what your intake and exhaust ports look like, compared to the many ported cylinder pictures on this site.you'll see the difference.under search type in porting and you will come up with some pics on the site.are you still running your stock air box wit snorkel and lid.what are your main jets in your carbs.do the 14 tooth sprocket first easy to do and cheap 10 to 15 bucks that will help you some till you figure every thing else out.
