  1. kinda im not actually testing the fuel for a accurate flash point.theres no real science to what i do, on the engines i have built with a substantial amount of compression and feel a higher octane is needed i just take egt readings and do plug chops and compare the 2 till im happy with the results. there is way more to this subject than i can grasp, nor have i taken the time to understand it completely. this method is just what has worked for me over the years with good results.so i really have no clue to my actual flash point number wise but know the engine is in parameters for safe running conditions and non-detonation.
  2. ive been buying avgas from the heliports for atleast 20 years and have ran it in every thing under the sun from drag bikes, dirt bikes, quads, hot rods ive owned etc.what i have noticed over a period of time it will leave deposits on the pistons and valves over a long period of time, it will get to the point where valves wont seat from all the deposits and also pitt the valve seat.i have run it straight and have mixed it with pump fuel depending on what octane/flash point im after.for the price difference in avgas and vp i run alot more avgas than i do vp fuel.
  3. i wanna see some pic's/videos of that aswell,with the +4
  4. if you like to carve and jump as i can tell you do i would stay stock maybe +2 if you drag race mostly i would stretch it to atleast +4 maybe +6 i think the +2 is the happy medium for both, will still handle and jump decent, and will be more effective on a hole shot than stock. ive seen some guys do pretty good with a +2 just put your nuts on the gas cap when launching. kinda like riding a cr 500 you have to have yer nuts on the gas cap when in the throttle.
  5. clutch fibers are the same from 1990 to 1999.i run barnett hd springs barnett flat steels and 1997 yzf 1000 fibers,if that helps any.thats what i ask for at the parts counter or when ordering.its basically the same thing your going to get from f.a.s.t.theres several bike shops and builders that sell this set up. and yes they do hold up well.unless you have a highly modified all out drag bike then you will need a lockup.they also have a 8 plate clutch set up with these same parts just runs 8 fibers instead of 7.if you want to do this just buy the 8 plate inner hub.
  6. yes i agree a stock raptor 700 will smoke a stock banshee.banshee off the show room floor was majorly detuned.thats why one can pipe jet and some filters that let it breath advance the timing a little with gear for what your doing and its a different animal.but yea a 700 raptor should kill a stock banshee its only half the cc's and detuned badly.its amazing to me how close of a race it is with just pipes for half the cc.just imaging if the banshee had come with like a tz750 two stroke motor from the factory.it would take a yamaha r1 motor in the raptor to keep it in sight, NOT.
  7. im sure am glad i dont have the horror stories some of you have.all i can say is some of you are riding some hurt ass banshee's.i raced a raptor 660 about 2 weeks ago with my 03 z400 and spanked it.z has athena big bore kit, hot cams hot rod, trinity stage 5 exhaust etc.i had no problem handing the raptor its ass on dirt beating him by at least 3 quad links.my banshee will run off and leave my z400 like its going backwards.something is definitely wrong, sounds like to me some hurt ass banshee motors.so far on my banshee the only thing i have been beat by was another highly modified banshee.i am also a believer in you can make anything fast.my point is if your getting beat you havent done enough to your banshee. this guy here that cat keep it in 5th or 6th gear having to down shift to 4th for power should have not been racing anything.my blaster would have spanked it.hell on my banshee i run a 15 tooth front sprocket and am looking for 7th gear.all i know is theres a bunch of banshees out there that will smoke a modded raptor 700.it better have a turbo on it if it comes my direction because thats what its gonna take. i fuck up raptors and yfz 450's for free. anyone that lives in the 4 states area close to texarkana that has a raptor or a yfz450 that needs a banshee ass whoopin let me know.thats if i havent already smoked your ass.
  8. direct replacement no need to modify.
  9. my experience with clutch slippage is when not into the power band grabs fine,as you get into the power band then is will slip and let go....i run the yfz 1000 street bike clutches and flat steels with heavy duty springs with good results.you can buy a lockup they just cost $$$$
  10. just keep you eye on ebay, over a period of time you should be able to pick up pipes, carbs and filters real cheap.
  11. i went with a +6 and for what i do, i though i should have went with a +4 after riding a friends bike with a +2.. thats what i feel like i should have went with. the longer the swing arm better for just drag racing i feel or just hill climbing. a +2 will help you out on your hole shot some and you will thank your self for not going any longer for the fun factor of a shorter swing for carving and jumping etc. im after a +2 for what i am doing at this point.will keep the +6 though for drag. only takes an hour to change evey thing out depending on what type riding your doing.
  12. i have a 03 z 400 which is the same thing as a kfx 400.with just a pipe the kfx is gonna be in last place of the 3.the piped banshee and the raptor 700 would be a tight race ,with a good hole shot from the banshee.also with the right pipes and carb jets and some tuning and a good rider i think the banshee could/would win it.
  13. cool i know very little about the modquad head, thanks for the info. i figured there would be more options than the modquad domes.
  14. 402 was the smallest chevy big block. 400 was the biggest small block.
