Not a problem, I can post pics of everything's you guys need me to, just ask. It helps me too that way we're on the same page. What should my next step here be? Remove my cylinders? Should I place an order for a new set of reeds? If so which ones? Is it possible for me to get this done without going to a shop or mech?
-
Gonna look into the leakdown test after I get everything back together. I was thinking about ordering some new piston and swapping them myself, or do you guys not reccomend that? I want to save $$ obviously by avoiding the mechanic route, but I want to do things right.
-
I do have a cool head sorry forgot to mention. I'm on stock cages for sure but the inside was carbon fiber so my buddy thought they might not be stock.
-
I have cpis. I thought shearers was what you called the part of the exhaust that's by your legs... lol my mad https://ibb.co/guFD7k
-
Here's some pics of my reed mount & the inside. What would you guys reccomend? https://ibb.co/b6szf5 https://ibb.co/csPef5

How can I investigate what other mods the quad has? all I know is cpis with pods on stock carbs. It was on stock reeds I believe buddy said he wasn't sure if carbon fiber was stock but my case was stock

Yeah I've been running 93 that's what the dude before me ran also, maybe that's why he mixed oil so heavily?? 8 oz marine per gal... heres a zoomed up pic for you guys. https://ibb.co/e4zRtQ im not too sure what mods the quad had the previous owner did not know much. Showed my buddy my reeds he said I need new ones, to take a pic of the inside of where my reeds mount to see if it has portwork and he'd reccomend what's best. I'll post the pic here as well so you guys can give me your thoughts.

Okay will do. & about my pistons? My buddy saw the pics and he said it was a pre detonation, from running wrong fuel. I told him compression on one side was 180 he said that running the 93 probably fucked up the quad before it even got to my hands. do you guys agree?
-
Also, what's this pressure test you're talking about for? Should I do it after reassembly once I got everything I need?
-
Just saw this, already pulled off my head heres some pics, the hose you see is the radiator hose so let that be your north. https://ibb.co/bQSexk https://ibb.co/iTH1A5 Piston does not look too damaged to me, the left side piston (one with low compression) does seem kinda grinded on the edges but not tore up. How can I check rings? Do I have to pull off cylinder as well?
-
Just didn't it again, if I'm supposed to kick till the needle stops moving what I said earlier was pretty accurate. If anything the left side is a little higher closer to 50. About to remove head, should I remove the head or the shearer exhaust first to look at my piston before removing the head?

I mean everything is a learning process imo.. if this isn't something you need serious experience for it's just kind of a swapping parts type of things I can definitely do it, especially with a forum giving me support.. but if that isn't the case and this is something that's gonna take experience let me know
-
Hot damn. Sounds like I'm gonna be in for some serious mechanical shit.. I'll look up some videos and talk to my buddy to see if he can maybe give me a hand with it. I'll keep you guys posted. As always much appreciated fellas
-
Damn then it's possible I kicked it too many times? I mean I kicked till the needle didn't move any further, I was hitting the throttle don't know if it matters. My left side I kicked just as many times but it wouldn't go past the 30s range
-
Vice versa left side when sitting on the quad is the one that's low. Regardless, I always pump 93 nothing lower. What should be my next step here guys? not looking like I'm gonna be taking the shee out this weekend huh? Fml
-
How could this have happened? Is rebuilding something I can take on myself if it comes down to that?
-
I hear stock is 110-150 so my right side was pretty high which is a good thing right? But as for that left side? It's dead
-
Alright so I just did the test, left side wouldn't go past the 30s, left side shot up to 180 and wouldn't go past that. does that mean my left side is blown? I tested it twice
-
Gotcha, as for the fuel? Don't really get what you mean? On or off?
-
On my way home now. Should I leave one side plugged while I test the other or it doesn't matter? Also should I do it with the key and ignition on, fuel on or off? Or is all of that irrelevant?
-
Thanks guys, gonna pick up some feeler gauges or a gap tool when i pick up the compression tester. Just saw a video on how to do it, by southernbanshee he pretty much makes videos for everything. & he said to make sure the tester has the little valve or it won't work because it will let air back out and not let it build with a couple kicks. So I'll be looking out for that, hopefully I can find everything at the nearest auto parts. Will post results of compression test in about an hour or so
-
Okay, good to know. 020 inches? How do you guys measure that? You got any tricks? Like a penny or something handy like that?or would I need a caliper to do this?
-
I'm running NGK br8es I asked the fella at the shop how should I gap these and he said they're good the way they come
-
I mean I got an understanding of it, but something's just not right with my quad right now. I will check compression a little later today. Only person that I can go to for help is my buddy he's usually the one I go to when I've reached a point I can't get past but he's a busy guy. Thing is I want to understand my machine, I want to be able to figure this out, with help from you guys I'm sure it's possible.. just need some patience from you all lmao
-
I'll take the plugs off again tomorrow and check to make sure but I'm almost certain that's what I felt. I'll see if I can find somewhere with comp gauges near me
