  1. So its normal for my coolhead not to be cool? lol seriously though, how would I know if its overheating? For all I know the radiator or the water pump arent even working.. how can I make know its all 100?
  2. So I went in between what you guys are telling me and the manual so I ran about 6oz per gal filled so about 20:1 with the Yamalube. Got her to fire up, Heat cycled for about 8 mins while keeping an eye on the temp of the cylinders and radiator. cylinders felt like they warmed up nice and even, the top radiator was hotter than the center of it.. so I'm assuming all is good. Let her cool down for about hour and a half came back fired her up and took her out for a little 5 minute ride. rode through all the gears mostly lower gears, didn't hit WOT, tried to stay below the 1/2 range on the lower gears and about 2/3 and below on 4+.. Got back home turned her off and she definitely got a lot hotter on the ride than in the heat cycle... cylinders i could only touch momentarily. the cool head was pretty hot too if anything slightly less than the cylinders but that's just a estimating.. Radiator was very hot as well, I could only keep my hand on the center for about 2 seconds, the top again was hotter. Checked both plugs, the bottom rim was a little wet with blackish oil and the electrode was black and dry.. Opinions??
  3. So don't up the ratio on the first tank? screw the manual?
  4. u guys srs?? Clymers manual says 16:1 for the first tank, then 24:1 for regular use... Do you guys disagree? Using Yamalube Type R
  5. Come time to fire up the quad how much oil should I run in the gas? Same as always? 4oz a gal or should I up the mix a little bit?
  6. Did the compression test any ways it's 150 even on both sides. Happy with the results first time rebuilding not too shabby so far
  7. Will do, just seen a video on how to leakdown test, I know someone on this site said you can make one yourself so I'm gonna look into that. Should check for leaks before the heat cycle and before compression test even am I right?
  8. Sup fellas, just finished a top-end rebuild on a banshee I purchased not too long ago. A lot of you may already be familiar with the quad I'm talking about ( if not, 2003 stock crank, now 66.50 bore, slight porting, CPIS, stock carbs.... 310 jet) After fresh cylinder Bore and new pistons 66.50, new domes previously 18cc now 21cc. I assembled the babe up to the head. installed the reeds, carbs, and pipes, covered up all the holes and left it at that. My question is, what should I do to the quad before running it? Obviously warm up etc before going out for a ride. But I'm going to look up on how to do a leak down test on the quad. Make sure everything is sealed properly. After that I'll probably do a compression test to make sure both sides are good. Then what should be my next move?
  9. What purpose does this even serve on my quad? If its worth it I'd def rather keep it but if I get no benefits from it then I'll definitely rip it off.
  10. I was thinking of unwrapping it to see what markings it had but I figured I shouldn't mess with it until I have a solution on how to properly tuck everything away. Gonna go out to buy some new fuel lines and springs for my exhaust if i can find those. (If anyone has any clue on where I can find them springs locally lmk). I'll unwrap the CDI when I get home to confirm what it is.. As for its location, is that where its supposed to go? if so what can I do with all those dangling cables? E- Curve is like a map for a raptors Power Commander? if so how should I go about fucking with these?
  11. As some of you know I got this quad used and its my first banshee, the fella I got it from said it had "modes" one for trail, and one for street riding.. He said he had it on trail mode so I never touched it. Idk if you guys can see but there's a few plugs or wires that aren't plugged into anything. http://imgur.com/vAvJuYr http://imgur.com/2tLmDBy http://imgur.com/tN2WJSP E- Since I got the quad those cables in the back have been exposed under the fenders, is there anything I can do to tuck them away nicely besides the tie wraps/electrical tape? I want to hide & protect them
  12. You guys have any brands you reccomend for gaskets? Or oem all the way? 30 bucks oem for cylinder base gaskets vs 8 bucks for Vito's is a big diff.. now do they work the same?
  13. It's my old reeds so doesn't matter & to spurdy I'm gonna see if I can manage to get them off without damaging.. if not I'll pick a pair up I'm sure the local moto shop has it in stock
  14. Lol sorry.. I meant the reed boot. Anyways the dude that set them up must've used some actual glue or something other than silicone cause the actual paste in between is solid. I will try soaking them in some wd40 for some time to see if it helps them I'll try the blade again
  15. Talking about these, tried posting the pic wouldn't let me though https://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view;_ylt=AwrB8piX5l5ZPFIA3FmInIlQ;_ylu=X3oDMTIzYmZ1ajdlBHNlYwNzcgRzbGsDaW1nBG9pZANhMTFhMDI3Y2ZkYjkzNzVlMWZjYWU4M2UyNDM1ZDg5MQRncG9zAzE0BGl0A2Jpbmc-?.origin=&back=https%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dbanshee%2Breeds%26fr%3Diphone%26fr2%3Dpiv-web%26tab%3Dorganic%26ri%3D14&w=800&h=600&imgurl=www.motorcityatv.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2014%2F01%2F2-x-Yamaha-Banshee-rubber-intake-boots-carbs-reeds-1987-2006.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.motorcityatv.com%2Fparts-store%2Fproduct-category%2F2-x-yamaha-banshee-rubber-intake-boots-carbs-reeds-1987-2006%2F&size=85.0KB&name=...+Banshee<%2Fb>+rubber+intake+boots&p=banshee+reeds&oid=a11a027cfdb9375e1fcae83e2435d891&fr2=piv-web&fr=iphone&tt=...+Banshee<%2Fb>+rubber+intake+boots&b=0&ni=21&no=14&ts=&tab=organic&sigr=13mt4l8sh&sigb=1354ahabl&sigi=13gp81504&sigt=116stsiu8&sign=116stsiu8&.crumb=//i4K4scWMX&fr=iphone&fr2=piv-web
  16. Didn't know they sold kits good to know. I have a spare clutch cover gasket and not to mention a new one in there from when I was messing with my clutch. side note- do you guys have a method to removing the rubber boot cage off old reeds to reuse them? They have been sealed with some sort of sealant or something. Would like to reuse these if possible
  17. Really the only gaskets I remember were the ones for the reeds, which I already got new ones with new vforce 4. as for the manual I ordered one online should be getting here before I finish the cylinders, hope its as helpful as everyone says it is
  18. Sup fellas, as a few of you prolly already know I'm rebuilding top end on a shee I bought off some dude. Ordered new 66 mm wiseco pistons, gonna get cylinders bored once those get in. Going to take the quad to a buddy of mine he was gonna help me check out the bottom end, he said he can tell if I'm good. Is there anything I should look out for in particular? Also.. since I'm gonna be down there, is there any seals/gaskets that I would be better off replacing? I wanna have this bad bitch 100% when she's back up.
  19. Lol I never said I was handing my cylinders to a guy with a dremmel, like I said the dude is a pro working with all sorts or engines just not banshees in specific. anyways y'all are great, & im sure the sponsors are as good as yall say. I just feel it's easier taking my shit to someone who works around me. I'll be talking to the dude from southern performance tmrw, he seems legit, my friend backs him up too I'm sure he'll steer me the right way. Just to be clear only reason I didn't wanna send my stuff out was cause of the shipping hassle and I like doing things in person a lot better, who doesn't?
  20. The guy who was doing it for cheap was a professional with a shop and heavy machinery, trust me I know not to take my stuff to just anyone. I appreciate all the concern I really do!! Loll but I will be going to southern performance rest assured. My buddy is real cool with Shane
  21. Lol you too bro??? Are you guys not satisfied unless I ship my shit out?? Y'all something else
  22. Lol... listen rjd you swear like these site sponsors are the only people building motors in america, I appreciate all the help from you guys but you're are acting like they pay you to rep these niggas lol.. chill the fuck out. Just cause you know they're good doesn't mean they're the only good builders out there.. it's a big world with a lot of talented people.. doesn't take much to get the job done right just takes someone who knows what they're doing. you expect me to take my motor off my frame and ship it off to some shop in Kansas when I could put it In the back of my truck and find a nigga who knows what they're doing aroundme? You're crazy as fuck lol.. cylinder boring yeah maybe I would've gone that sponsor route.
  23. You're 100% right I should but the thing is, if I do that I know they will easily charge me 200$ just to open the cases and inspect everything. Part of the reason why I wanted to do it with the mech that "doesn't know much" (really he works on all kinds of engines just not motos specifically) was cost.. butdont get me wrong that doesn't mean I wanna do things the cheap way I want them done right but I know almost people over charge for everything. Taking 2 cylinders to someone to bore vs taking them a whole engine and telling them to check it is a very big difference. But I know it's a must, I wouldn't feel comfortable not knowing what's going on under me as I'm flying 80+ mph. I'm gonna talk to southern performance today once my buddy talks to him for me and I'm gonna be real with him, tell him my story and see what he thinks I should do, if he tells me to take him the whole engine I'm sure we can work something out that's reasonable. As for maintanance i always always try to be on top of my bikes.. as you could see, I got this one and haven't stopped since I got it. I've had it for about 3 weeks now I think
