  1. Hopefully a little longer than 2 years lols. But as for the cylinder wall life? How can I tell if I don't have enough left? I'll post pics in a bit
  2. That's actually my buddy's mech, I was gonna hit him up but I'm gonna go thruough my friend first cause he's pretty cool with him. Sully was telling me if someone needs a piston to bore I shouldn't trust them? Lol anyways I think my dads mech would've done it perfectly fine he works on all types of engines from big blocks to 2 strokes so I'm sure he'd know what he's doing. I'm gonna go the builder route though that way I can take care of everything else once and for all. Btw I have size 18 domes rn fellas. What do I need in order to run pump? Will i lose performance cause of it?
  3. Lol chill if I can get it done locally i will if not I'll go theme sponsor route. I tried callin a sponsor driveline to be exact but no answer so that got me thinking I'd feel much better doing it somewhere I can go meet the dude and be there personally saves time money and effort imo so why not
  4. Alright cool, don't know what clearances are but I will learn about them before assembly. Gonna get my hands on that manual before I get the work finished
  5. http://www.wiseco.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ItemID=513M06600&ModelID=445&ModelYear=2003&AppID=313 this is what I would need to order?
  6. Trust me wouldn't be boring if I didn't have to. If it were up to me I'd buy same size piston and throw it in there but by walls are scraped up a bit. I can do a 66mm bore and fit a 66 mm piston in it right? Or does bore have to be slightly bigger? edit- I posted pics idk if you guys saw them and could see what I'm talking about.
  7. No one knows as much as they say they do with these things I'm starting to notice but he definitely knows a lot more than me and has experience opening these up. We looked em up today together and he found a chart saying 65.50 is 60% and 66.50 is the 100% which is the largest or something like that. im going 66 because I don't wanna make a huge jump as I don't think I need it I will talk to a builder and see what they think that's just me. https://ibb.co/hJmDa5 Are those the 66's that what I need? If it is I'll be placing the order. Also what other gaskets/o-rings should I swap?
  8. 513m06550 piston
  9. Buddy of mine says those pistons I got in there are the biggest pistons I can run? Is this true? He said if it's already bored to the biggest bore I can respect but that's gonna be like 200 bucks I'd rather get it bored, can I bore bigger than what I have now? Do I need to measure or can you guys tell what size it is?
  10. I can buy pistons the pistons and take them to the fella my dad's mechanic knows if that can help get the job done better. I'd just need to know which ones to get As for the sponsors they're all pretty far from fl I gave a call to driveline and I got they're message machine, I left a message. if anyone can reccomend a closer shop by all means
  11. I hear you, but what I meant was more toward type of piston brand and all that, is it very specific to banshees like they only take a specific type of piston and the mechanic either knows that or he doesn't? i guess what I'm asking is if I didn't tell a mechanic this was for a banshee.. cause he likely won't know what that is. Will he be able to do the porting & match me up with a good set of pistons? e- not that I don't trust sponsors here or nothing like that, id just rather do something locally before sending it off
  12. Was told by my dad's mechanic (he's been at my house for the past couple of days watching me work on the shee) to take the cylinder and the piston to a matching shop that he knows, he said that he can do the bore by machine and also give me fresh pistons. should I give that a try before calling any other shops? Or should I entrust this only to a banshee specialist?
  13. Actually says 29L not 28 Thats my right side
  14. Yeah it didn't look too good to me. Only see an x on the left side of the rod and 28L on the other side. This is for the left piston, haven't been able to pop off the right side cylinder yet. Should I rip the motor down further to inspect? Or should I worry about contacting the shops for the cylinder & pistons first?
  15. So the piston is flush on my cylinder does not pop out like you said so I'm guessing stock. Just took off my left cylinder ( one with low compression) the right one is being a bit more troublesome to take off. Heres some pics
  16. Lol!! I was thinking the same.. his all started from looking for the source of a leak. But I don't have a way to test my port I'd have to get my hands on the tool, as for the builders there's a few well known ones down here, ray and Shane from performance atv I believe, my buddy is pretty cool with Shane so I'll be calling a few builders to see who I feel would do the best job
  17. Good info guys I let you guys know as soon as I've taken a look
  18. Gotcha, in that case should I test the bore first before sending them out that way I know if it even needs or should I just let the builder handle that and let him tell me if it needs it and fit me with some pistons? Hopefully it isn't a dickhead builder that just wants to make some extra bucks so ports them regardless
  19. Agreed, damage is always more costly than prevention. & to spurdy the way to check stroke is on the crank right? Once I start tearing into it I will post some pics for you guys. I will post pics of every step alongside the way
  20. I see what you guys are saying and it makes complete sense. Is pulling apart cases & bottom end something I am gonna need someone with more experience for? I will get my hands on this manual asap. Am I gonna have to end up pulling the motor off my frame? Cause if I am might as well just get to work on the frame while those cylinders are being worked on. also, what do you guys reccomend? I have someone saying no to over bore, someone else saying doesn't matter? What's the real difference?
  21. That sounds like a good plan, honestly I didn't plan on doing it right away there's a lot I want to do to the quad, powder coat the frame & swing arm, re weld stripped footpegs and other parts on the frame.. but that's all $$$$ and really I'm 21 going to school, I'm not swimming in cash you feel me.. if it's a must I will get to it, but I'd rather avoid anything that's unnecessary
  22. I will likely be sending out my cylinders to get ported and get new pistons while I'm at it. Since porting and all that isn't really something I can do I have no choice. But at least that way it will get done right, sully has recommended a few shops. Driveline performance and sand toys. Was gonna call them today to talk to the builders. was also gonna order to vforce 4 reeds. Just to be clear what I meant by wanting to do this myself was, get my bike back together and running. I know there's certain things you will have to go out of your way for like the porting and buying new parts and all that.. but at the very least once I have everything in my hands looking 100%, I want to be able to throw it back on there just like I ripped it off and fire her right up.
  23. How can I tell my current dome size? What do I need to measure? & not sure what stroke is but as for cylinder bore I will look into it tonight and try testing tomorrow
  24. Thing is I really don't have the money to send my quad out to a builder right now or believe me I would. Plus I enjoy learning this stuff that way in the future I'm not clueless. what do you mean how I want to set up my motor? I want my quad running as hard as possible with having the buy the least things possible lol.. if this isnt isn't something I can take on myself I will put this aside and save the cash but I really don't want to go that route.
  25. Awesome thanks for the info guys, I will look into checking my bore. I will do some research tonight and try getting a hold of that tool tomorrow. Heres a pic of my head/domes https://ibb.co/d0NwtQ https://ibb.co/nOswtQ what other pics would you guys want to see? I would like to run off pump gas but not if it's gonna hinder performance, whatever will run best. also as for piston, if my cylinder checks out should I order same size pistons? Or should I still get them ported to a bigger size?
