Finally got the chassis done. I know, I lnow, the welds don't look perfect. Been a while since I've picked up the welder. They started getting a little better as I progressed. Here are some pics, made the gussets myself. Tony Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk

Hit up Corey here https://www.facebook.com/kompulsiveconcepts He makes a great product at a very reasonable price and gets it to you VERY quickly. Tony

Hell, if I can get time on one of the lathes at work I may just turn the things up myself out of some 300 series stainless stock. The hard part will be getting time when the lathes aren't running balls out though.

Tyler, thanks for the link! Those are some nice looking pieces and I'll be ordering some of those. Kinda sucks I have to pay for parts that should have come with the shocks but oh well. After three tries through Mike @ ATV Galaxy I wonder what I would get next if I asked him yet again to please send the correct parts lol. Tony

Kawa110, if you got the puck and the frame mount you are ahead of the game already it sounds like. From what I've been finding the frame mount is the part that is the hardest to come by. Taking a stem mount from say a Precision kit and adapting it to work with your puck might be a way to go. You may have to drill and/or tap the hole in the stem mount to work with your GPR link but I'm sure with a little massaging it would work well. On the flip side, if you can get a shop to machine you one fairly cheap that would be tits as well! Thanks Tony

Gusto, thanks for the link. I tried them for the Fastway kit they initially said they had. Turns out they didn't have one and also informed me Fastway no longer makes a kit for the banshee. I will give them a call about the GPR unit and see if they have that one in stock. Bluebanshee, I originally purchased a -1 swing arm, then sold it to Claude lol. The more I thought about it though with my size I will have plenty of ass over the rear wheels for traction and don't want to have it so the fronts come up at the slightest hint of throttle. I decided to go with a +2 arm and I'll see how that works out. With the power the motor will have I'm hoping it's a nice compromise with traction and the front wheels staying on the ground in a more controllable fashion. Already have plans to order the ASI radiator, just need to get it ordered. Those ASV levers are nice but I already have a nice ball bearing MSR clutch lever and I want to wait and see how the 08' mc lever feels before I drop the coin on a different lever for front brakes. Loco, I was told by Mike at ATV Galaxy my rear is scheduled to ship on the 24th. I'm sure as hell not holding my breath on that date though lol. I've had one hell of a time just getting the correct reducers from him for the front shocks. Initially he sent the reducer kit for a LTR450, second attempt was for the 09' and up Yamaha, and third attempt was a mix match bag of shit that actually contained 4 of the correct reducers. I've given him the correct part number for the reducer kit and the actual reducers themselves, still can't seem to send out the correct parts. After this last batch of mix match stuff he sent I just told him screw it and I will use washers to take up the space. Frustrating to say the least especially when you provide them with all of the correct part numbers after the first attempt. Claude, I've looked at the Streamline stick style stabilizers. If I can't find a puck style I will end up going with one of those. I know the puck style costs a crap load more but damn do they work nice once you get them dialed in! Thanks for the compliments guys, plan on updating things as I progress through the build and as parts show up.

Thanks guys! I should make the disclaimer that this won't be an overnight build like one of Tyler's bikes lol. I'm focusing on getting things in the chassis at this point to make sure it all bolts up correctly first and also this will give me a good idea clearance wise where to add some support for the chassis. Needless to say I'd be pissed if I got the chassis back from powder coat and did final assembly to find that where support was added is in the way of another part! @ SandSlingerOR, I knew I might catch some shit about the LSR stuff, it's all good though lol. I've heard some folks like their stuff and others have had problems. I'm one that has always received top quality parts from them and they have always treated me great from a customer service aspect. I was a gnat fart away from going with a Fireball stem but decided to stick with the LSR unit. The thing I'm having the hardest time finding is a damn puck style steering stabilizer, those MF'ers seem to be like hens teeth!! I tried Fastway and they stopped making them for the banshee a while back and Precision doesn't make one for the banshee and don't plan to either. I know you can get the stick style but from the reading I've done on here it's seems pretty 50/50 on whether they really do anything or not. Nice thing about the stick style is they are cheap compared to the puck style. Tony

Thanks gusto. Gonna upgrade the front brakes as well. I will be running 08' yfz mc and calipers. Was gonna rebuild the stock stuff and said the hell with it, gonna upgrade. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk

Guess I should list what's on it so far. Lonestar +1 stem, axle, rear brake hub, and front and rear wheel hubs. Added flex bars to the mix, I've never run these before and wanted to give them a try. I know some will give me shit about my wheel choice and that's fine, I went with Hiper wheels because I like them lol. I hit up JDS Customs for the under radiator cdi bracket, front mount coolant tank bracket, JL Engineering DC conversion kit and a Kompulsive wiring harness. All of those products came from JDS and everything is top notch! Not sure if I will stick with the front mount coolant tank or not, time will tell especially when it comes time to mount a steering stabilizer. As I mentioned in the OP, I have a Fireball +2 swing arm and carrier and also their +2 +1 EGC front arms. Eventually it will be fully suspended by fox shocks, floats up front currently and still waiting on a podium in the rear. Tony

Thanks folks, it's just the beginning of the build. I wanted to get something up to show what I have so far and also get the sponsor names out their so folks can see their products. Ayesully810, not sure what randal is but hoping it's a good thing lol! Gusto, yes, Cameron will be putting the motor on the dyno. From our initial talk he is going to dyno the motor with a number of different sets of pipes to see if one really stands out over another. I don't currently have pipes to go with the new motor so it is up in the air yet what I will be going with. Given the type of riding and setting it up as more a mid range motor and not a high winder Cameron tossed out the idea of possibly PT's, Toomey's, and SLP's. It will kinda depend on how the motor reacts with the different pipes and make a judgement call from there. These will only be dyno numbers and not real world so it may take some playing around once it's fully back together to REALLY see what pipe the motor likes. As for the carbs, I have no idea yet, just guessing I would say 33 or 35's. This is a complete build of the motor, jugs, head, crank, the works. This is also known as the empty your fucking wallet build lol! The quad came with a 2 into 1 intake and a decent PWK 35, pipes it had some decent FMF fatty sst's. The motor itself was total fubar though. Tony

Finally getting started on my 03 build. Right now I'm just getting things mocked up before I go after the chassis. Going to add some support to the steering stem hoop, stem stop area, and possibly a few other spots on the chassis. Redline is building a 421 serval for me so while that's out I can hopefully get the chassis done and coated. Build is for trails and play mainly. Running Fireball +2 swing arm and +2 +1 EGC front arms from Fireball as well. Going to ride on fox floats all the way around, hoping the rear gets here soon, been waiting over a month for it. Anyway, here are some pics of the progress so far. I know it's not much but it's a start. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk

Here's a pic of the link bar you are asking about. The bow or arch faces the front of the quad. Tony Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk

Thought I would post this up for those searching for the right size allen head to tighten the retaining nut for the steering stem lower bearing. It just so happens that a Tusk flywheel puller for the banshee is the exact size needed to fit into the nut used to hold in the lower steering stem bearing. Use the part that screws into the flywheel and remove the center threaded part used to push against the crank. The outer part of the puller has a deep enough hex that it will rest on the bearing and still allow you to get plenty of engagement with a socket so you can get the proper torque. Maybe this has been figured out already but wanted to share what I found hoping it helps someone or saves someone trying to make one. If you own a Banshee you need the flywheel puller anyway, now you have two tools for the price of one. Tony

LOL, if you do maybe give bluebanshee98 a shout. Of course after that flip Cameron some serious shit about it! I know I will if I get paper towels when he ships my motor back!!! Tony

The swing arm does look sweet, then again I'm partial lol. Claude PM sent. Tony

Looking good Claude!

Bluebanshee98 is more in line with what I was saying, Rubbermaid totes work great! Here is a link to the one I used, very sturdy bottom and sides and I could use a metal exhaust wrap clamp to lock the handle shut, along with a bunch of tape......... https://www.google.com/search?tbm=shop&q=ActionPacker®+Storage+Box+-+35+gal#spd=2391901841379805134 Drilling the holes and using zip ties to secure the lid along with cheap rolls of paper towels for packing material are also great and cheap suggestions! After checking out his ebay site, ya, he's probably been missing out on a number of sales! He has a lot of great looking products that you wouldn't even know about just from visiting his web page. Tony -
You have a budget which is good. Now, plan on going over your budget a bit or a lot lol. Honestly though, contact one of the site sponsors and talk to them. Let them know what you already have, what you're looking for, and how much you have to spend. That would be the first place to start. No point packing everything up only to find out you're not going to be able to have anything done within your budget that suits your needs. Get a hold of FAST, Redline, or Driveline, just to name a few and all site sponsors, and talk with them. If you are stuck to that budget they should be able to tell you what can be done for the money and will do their best to maximize the return for you. As for the packaging of your motor, get yourself like a 30gal cooler that is the right dimensions to fit your motor in. When sizing don't forget to factor in packaging material! You'll want to wrap the motor up good in a junk blanket, bubble wrap, or what ever is soft and will protect the motor and not let it slide/bang around inside the cooler when shipped. Don't skimp on the packing material when shipping your motor, the shipping companies don't give a rats ass what's inside and will toss that thing around like a rag doll so pack your motor up good! Just sent my motor to Redline, used a 35 gallon rugged cooler and have about 4" of bubble wrap surrounding everything. Picked it up, shook the living shit out of it listening for any movement or noises. Once you can pick it up, shake it and not hear any noises you should have it packaged well enough to survive the trip. Hope that helps you out some. Tony

Justwannarace, thanks for the tip on a better way to find products from Mattoon!!! I ran into the same problem as 375hp, go to their site and it is pretty slim pickings. Much appreciated! Tony -

Tyler and tricked, you are correct about the Wicked ATV parts, they look amazing! I usually go through the sponsor list when looking for parts, hard to remember who builds what all the time so I just check their sites quick for a refresher lol. Ended up being torn between the Wicked and Cascade covers for a while. After some pondering I ended up going with the Cascade cover. I already have their water pump cover and Cascade had the stator cover to match. Should go nicely with the polished Direct Drive lock-up clutch cover. I really appreciate the input guys! Never hesitate to remind me about one of the sponsors, it can be easy to overlook something while going through their sites checking for parts. Tony -

Cool, I appreciate the feedback! Forgot to mention with the timing, the motor is getting dyno'd by Cameron so after getting the motor back and getting it dialed in I shouldn't need to be messing with the timing much. Famous last words though, shouldn't need to mess with it lol. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk -

The motor is going to be a 421 serval. Just sent it to Redline for a complete build. It's mainly an open trail bike and the motor is being built to suit that type of riding. Shooting for mid 80's on HP from what Cameron was talking about. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk -
I'm trying to decide between the Cascade and Chariot stator covers. With the Chariot one and the output shaft bearing support is this needed or a good idea with higher HP motors? I haven't seen the Chariot cover offered in a polished version but the Cascade cover does come polished and looks amazing. Looking for input from folks who have run either of these covers and your thoughts about the bearing support offered by Chariot. Thanks for any input you can provide, Tony
