  1. I have a drag strip a few miles from my house so Im going to run some race gas through it and enjoy the extra compression with the added timing, see what it likes. I'm hoping it runs a lot better then before, on pavement with my ass at the back of the seat it wouldn't lift the front wheels in 1st gear.. But it would have power up top, didn't feel right. My friends tried to convince me "2 strokes have no low end, that's why" Pfft
  2. The proper bit costs me like $13 at the tool store. Then I spent $45 on a Mattoon.
  3. Vito's gaskets on my build did nothing but leak. Nothing like having to pull the top end back apart to pass a leak down test. I used ultra grey as that's all I had, copper spray would have been choice! I'll go through a few heat cycles and see if they leak.
  4. So the banshee I got for cheap, $700 had a list full of mods and was suppose to have been a 420cc engine ect.. Well to me it felt low on power, got hot and ran like a total dog, was quick for not have ridden a quad in years but not not a banshee should run IMO... So I got leery of what it actually was besides seeing the obvious PD cool head, toomey t5s and pwk carbs with k&n pods. Took it apart to find it had stock length hot rod rods with a 64.5mm wiseco piston, so it's a 353, no big deal, found out it had 19cc domes and I was like wtf? Why was this guy running pump gas at 40:1? Got the vito water pump impeller and mull billet drive gear as the plastic one was beginning to melt. Did the DIY timing mod, wasn't impressed with my skills so ordered a Mattoon, while upon assembly I noticed the flywheel woodruff key looked weird and ill be damned it's a +4 key from Vito's, I know from reading on here it's a no oh and a turd so I have an oem one on the way, it's the hold up on the bike right now. So my question is, his the heck was this thing running and not detonating it's ass off? I ball honed the jugs and put new rings kicked it over to 170-175 both sides. Has a 45 pilot jet and a 138 main jet, I have a feeling they are too small for this bike and I can't wait to make some pulls, with 104 octane of course.
  5. I meant type F not +4 btw.
  6. You just opened a can of worms, I'll start off by what I'll be running in mine. Redline 2cycle oil for the fuel. 32:1 ATF +4 for the transmission Engine Ice for the coolant Dot 4 for the brakes. Yamaha says to use castor oil for the fuel, atv 10w30 for wet clutches in the trans and 50/50 antifreeze and dot 4 for the brakes. You're going to get a different answer from everyone, if you use ATF in the trans you need to change it more often. But oh well. I just got my banshee 2 weeks ago and I've already got myself knee deep in a top end rebuild and learning to fine tune carbs.
  7. Fuel injection on cars, lol I'll stick with carbs on the quad, seems way easier.
  8. Saw a sweet light bar set up on Facebook. From what I've read. The replacement bulbs aren't much brighter, they just look fancy in your housings with the lights off during the day
  9. Damn are the eBay Taiwan jets worth a damn? Gut tells me no, pocket tells me yes! The oem clones from jetsrus? Damn this will be a crash course on carb tuning since my whole life I've avoided carbs in general and did all me learnin' on fuel injection lol Just got the shee, must learn to braaapppp
  10. I was told with the 19cc domes I may need race fuel, once the hone gets in I'll have the top end together for a compression check
  11. http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=178301#entry1651729 Any Info would be great, seems this thread gets more traffic.
  12. Oh yeah and it's a stock port, stock stroke but it's a 64.5mm bore (.020) over
  13. New to banshees if you guys haven't taken notice.. Just pulled my carbs apart during my top end rebuild. Keihin pwk 28mm 45 pilot 138 main 2nd clip on napf needle Mods are Toomey t5 Pro design cool head 19cc domes Stock intakes Stock reeds Elevation is 660ft Plan on running unleaded 104. Is this acceptable ?
  14. 1) What type of aftermarket exhaust do you have? Toomey t5 2) What type of airfilter do you have? K&n pods 3) Are you a)running a stock airbox with lid stock airbox with NO lid c) Stock airbox with vents d) no airbox at all No air box 4) What is your elevation? 660ft 5) What size pilot jets are you using? 45 6) What size main jets are you using? 138 7) What temperature is your Banshee jetted for? 80-100 8) Do you have a port job? No 9) What kind of carbs? Kehin pwk 10) What size carbs? 28mm Pro design cool head 19cc domes Stock reeds, stock intake Are these jets okay? It seemed to run "okay" but I've never owned a banshee before. So what do I know.
  15. 104 unleaded be okay for 19cc domes, .020 over bore, stock stroke, stock jugs? Or 110 leaded? Would that require a rejet? I'm taking the carbs apart tonight to see which jets I have.
  16. Sweet. I will probably run one so I can keep an eye on contaminants. It won't hurt fuel flow to much ? Pretty sure that's a dumbass question but who knows! I'm used to fuel injection lol
  17. My banshee doesn't have a fuel filter on it and was wondering if it needs one? My gut tells me hell yes, but it's weird it doesn't have one. Just a small 1/4in inline?
  18. My idea was to run a tank of race fuel if needed after I do a compression test. And then go with 21cc domes later on. It's ~$70 either way. Plus I need to keep race fuel on hand for other projects.
  19. I haven't pulled the stator cover yet, but I have a flywheel tool on the way to go +4ish with the DIY timing mod.
  20. Interesting. I've only ran one tank of 93 thru it before I tore it down. Just trying to be safe. I didn't notice any pinging or detonation, I was going to try some race fuel and see of I felt any difference. It shook a lot at idle. The plugs didn't look bad besides one side looked fuel saturation and black after 2-3 hours, other side looked clean.
  21. Ya, screw that. Cycle center sells renegade fuels, I'll just pick up a jug from them.
  22. How hard is it to jet for e85? I'm about to drown myself in google. Any cons?
  23. Just a guess how much power should I expect from my quad? 45-50hp at best? Would 100octane aviation fuel work? My uncle works at the local airport, so that would be convenient. When running race fuel still the normal 32:1? I have 2 bottles of redline 2cycle oil. I imagine I'm going to need to rejet for the change in fuel?
