its been to 2 different mechanics one said the cylinders where hogged the bike wont ever run right until you change them...the other one tried to tune it and it ran better but still not up to par the bike was smoking like crazy and he leaned it out as much as he could...im not much for wheelies and shit but its hard as hell to wheelie the bike it just doesnt have enough grunt on the low end

dude i could turn around and sell these fucking things tomorrow and i wont lose a nickel...when i said half way decent i didnt mean running at 50% of its capacity lol thats how my bike is running right now...alot of my friends have ported shees with 4 and 7 mill cranks they take this alot more seriously than i do i just wanna be able to keep up in the trails...nobody goes thru the trails at 80 mph lol that shit is irrelevant to me if my bike had decent bottom end which is what you need in the trails i would have kept my stock cylinders right now i'll probably get waxed by a bone stock shee with pipes

and for you...look i dont drag race im not building my bike to be the fastest in the world not everybody needs that the bike needs to be fun to rip thru the trails your making the mistake in thinking that everyone needs or even wants 90hp banshee...not the case here i just wanted some credible info on the athena set up.i have other hobbies so FML if if not chomping at the bit to spend 1600 on the top end of a bike that i may ride once every 2 months lol fuk outta here

thats exactly what he did lol which im not that mad i got a titled shee for 2200 im a risk vs reward type of guy i thought to myself ok the top end may be a little suspect but fuck it worse case scenario i have a running bike until i come across a deal on a pair of cylinders

ok so the deal was i bought a bike that had an athena kit on it to begin with...by all accounts the bike hauled ass but the guy who sold it to me got rid of the original athenas due to scoring...he then went and bought a pair of big bore sleeve stock cylinders with a new set of 68mm pistons...i bought the bike with the parts for the top end i put them on and the bike runs like shit it doesnt even get going until you hit 4th gear its a beast from that point on now my theory as to why the bike doesnt run like it should is because the port work is hogged out..i know nothing about the cylinders (as to who ported them or what kind of port is on them) because i didnt buy them i know its a 4 mill and i know its running a spacer plate which i will be getting rid of this weekend....my mechanic said the bike was running rich he leaned it out as much as he could (safely) and its still not where it needs to be

lol i dont think its because his bike is fast.... my bike has zero bottom end that shit is a turtle off the dig im positive i could have bought a new set of stock jugs sent them to a site sponsor.. ported them to match my 4mill and i'd be leaving him atleast 2 houses behind me lets say i went that route i'd be looking at 300 for a set of stock cylinders another 350 for a port job another 180-200 for a piston kit then about 160 to install my top end and there is always a WTF expense some where....a stock cylinder set up would have run me over a 1,000 dollars...this athena kit is going to run about 460 installed as i already have the pistons call me crazy but thats a significant amount of money even if my bike runs half way decent i'll take it

i know one things for sure i will actually be able to give an objective opinion on the set up.those that have the set up on their bike said it was worth the price.those who haven't dont really have anything positive to say guess im going to be the guinea pig i have a 4mill ported stock cylinder and i got smoked by 3 houses by a stock crank ported stock cylinder...i'll run him again with the athena kit and see where im at

i havent even pulled them off the bike yet i plan on trying these athenas this weekend at that point i'll take some pics....i dont plan on porting them the way i was looking at it is i paid 300$ for them lol if they run bad ass out the box thats a deal if i dont like the way they run i'll pull them off and you'll see them on ebay...with the shape their in it wont be hard to get my money back. risk vs reward looked good to me i would have never dropped 700 on the kit theres just not enough credible info to justify me spending that

i looked around on the web and coudnt find much.i was kind of in the hot seat its not like i had days to do research. a deal came around and it was either i jumped on it or kept my crappy stock cylinders lol most of the information on threads that i found kinda had to be taken with a grain of salt.....example athenas suck buy a cub...ok well why do they suck have you ever tried the kit?? no but thats what everyone else says and i beat one with my stock cylinder i just want an opinion from someone who has actually ran the set up with good supporting mods

ok bought a banshee and the cylinders are trash dont care to waste time finding out whats wrong they need to be pulled of my bike and disposed of asap came across an athena kit and yeah i know a serval or cub is better but honestly its a trail bike and it was hard to resist i bought the cylinders,coolhead and domes for $300 they looked brand new no scoring or cracks he might have used this thing for all of 10 hours...the coolhead that comes with the cylinders im not fond of at all i would much rather put my pro design head on the athena kit if at all possible i would like to hear from ppl who have actually ran the cylinders before and not those just regurgitating everyone elses opinion on what kind of power i should expect from an as cast athena kit....other supporting mods include v force 4 reeds,cpis,4 mill crank

bought a pro design coolhead but its just the shell it came with no studs....i have a stock head on one of my banshees at the moment and im wondering if the stock studs will fit on the pro design as well

was trying to decide which set up to go with for a trail bike.im going to do a little drag racing here and there but primarily this will be a trail bike.i need a new top end on my shee so im starting from scratch.should i just go out and get a new pair of stock cylinders ported or would it be worth the few extra dollars to go with a ported serval. im in florida and everyone swares by the stock cylinder set up for everything.i was told that gas consumption would be crazy on a 4 mill serval and it woudnt have the useable power that a ported stock cylinder would for trail riding. i was even considering an athena kit but everyone shits all over those cylinders.very few have anything good to say about them i dont know if its because they actually gave them a try or ppl are just regurgitating other peoples opinions.if you have any experience on this athena set up your input would be greatly appreciated because its looking like my cheapest option. do it right or do it twice im going to spend money on this either way i just dont wanna regret it later

That sounds like it would tear your tranny to shreds after a while...didn't know that you could do that all I knew was that it would make your gears easier to find Great forum you learn something new everyday

i should be good to go then i already bought a hinson basket with pressure plate,EBC heavy duty clutch plates, stainless steel cables all around and the shift pro kit comes with the pro-mod tranmission...i'll ask about the other stuff while im at it though
