  1. You must be a part of that 79%. Obviously I know the consequences of not doing what I should do but when my dad who has 15+ years experience racing 2 strokes tells me that the crank looks great then I'm gonna take that more into consideration than everyone who says it's old and needs to be looked at. I don't have the money to do it now, I won't a month from now and I probably won't for another 3-4 months.
  2. It's stock bore. I'm sending the head with the jugs to make sure it's all good. The pistons would have shown signs of them actually hitting too. I don't have the money to freshen the engine up yet and riding season is right around the corner. I know I'm being a dumbass but as soon as I get the money to go through the engine it's gonna get done.
  3. I will sharpy "I'm a dumbass" on my forehead if it lets go before next winter.
  4. I didn't do one but the way the gaskets were it would have leaked either way. I'm gonna have to be a bit of a dumbass and not listen to what everyone is saying about splitting the cases. I want to buy new cases anyway cause mine suffered from the chain breaking so I'm gonna hold off on splitting the cases til next winter and cross my fingers.
  5. Had my dad over today to take a look at my jugs. He said, left side jug is fine just needs a hone but right side is in need of a bore and hone and is most likely the cause of the knocking. He also said the pistons are shot, which is expecting with a 27 year old engine. I'm sending the jugs off monday to be bored and honed so I should have everything back together 2 weekends from now
  6. It's had this sound since I got it and I've put at least 5 hours on it. I don't know how long it had this sound before I bought it though, but it's probably been a while. I'll double check it but everything felt tight. Anyway I could really test it?
  7. If one of the crank bearings broke wouldn't there be other signs?
  8. The sound is coming from the top end. It doesn't change when holding in the clutch or putting it in gear or both. Whatever is making the sound is attached to the crank and the crank feels tight, so I think it's either piston slap or something on the clutch side, but the sound is the same on both sides.
  9. As many of you know I've been stricken by this wonderful knocking sound which lead me to tear into the top end. To my surprised the pistons barely had any play in them 1/16-1/8 of play back and forth and the rod bearings are tight on each end. I still have no idea what this knocking is. My dad is coming this weekend to look everything over. I'm still considering to have the jugs sent off to be bored and honed just to put a fresh top end in it seeing it appears to be the top end they put into it in 1987.
  10. Oh oops, I didn't notice I hadn't put the plastics back on. I'll clean it up and put them back on and put up new pictures tomorrow.
  11. I feel ya, It's hard to clean it up when the hoses are still frozeen haha. I'll clean it up and upload some new pictures.
  12. This is why I'm rebuilding the top end.
  13. I was wanting to keep more of a white and red theme; red, white and polished. So maybe I'll just get some new polished wheels? Mine are beyond polishing...
  14. I personally don't like how white it is, needs to be a little more of an off white like the plastics, what do you think?
  15. I know that airscrews don't effect it. I think I'm lean on my main for this weather, I'm about to send the top end off to be bored to the next size so I'm not doing any riding til then, which will probably put me mid to late april when the weather is warmer. Once I get everything back together I'll do a proper plug chop and put it up cause idk how to read them.
  16. Sorry, I couldn't figure out how to upload them all at once.
  17. Painted my hubs red and my wheels white, what do you guys think? not the best paint job, I just wanted to see what it looked like, I'll probably actually get it PCed when I get the chance.
  18. Thanks, basically that means my jetting is gonna be perfect for the summer time.
  19. How many turns do you have your pilots out? and what's the weather like where you're at?
  20. Thanks deadbeat, that helps alot
  21. White or black would look good
