  1. Yes that color combo, I just bought a 2004 frame painted black and I want to restore it back to original with pieces from my 87
  2. Does anyone know the color code for the red 2004 banshee?
  3. Stock banshee engine, fmf fatties, stock carbs, k&n pods, no air box. 40*F 400' I'm at a 27.5 pilot and a 280 main, air screw turned all the way in, nice smooth power 1-4 but 5 & 6 I lose it, sounds like lean sputter. Is the main or pilot too lean?
  4. Anyone? I'm considering opening the top end tomorrow, what should I look for/ check? I did a compression test today and it was 112/110 at 145F and that's down from 113/113 at 150F in September
  5. Thanks for the response but I'm trying to narrow down what's toast
  6. I just reread this, I did not put it in gear when I pulled the clutch in. It's too late to go out there now but I will go out as soon as I get back home tomorrow and do it again.
  7. Pulling in the clutch lever didn't do any to the sound
  8. What are the clutch cushions anyway? What's their purpose? as far as I know that engine hasn't had any work on it since it was first assemblied in 87 I could record a new video and go on both sides, if that would help anyone
  9. I'll borrow my sisters stethoscope as soon as I can haha
  10. I looked at the skirts while I had the intakes off to check the reeds, there was no visual wear or cracks in the skirts, that being said that doesn't mean the back side wasn't a mess, I can't see that said so I don't know. My buddy races sprint cars and he has a guy who does all this engine work, I can imagine they know what they're doing when if comes to boring and honing but I'll do some research and see if there is any local guys that would know better about a banshee. A wiseco kit cost $190 for a complete rebuild kit, but I'll definitely look into those other pistons. I definitely don't plan on riding it much until I decide if I'm keeping it or selling it.
  11. I would love to send it to a proper builder but I don't think I have the money to do it. My dad races oval track go karts and has 15+ years experience with 2 strokes, so if I tear apart the top end he'll be there to keep a watchful eye over things and I'm sure he'd spot anything that might be funky with it. hopefully I just need to have it bored and honed for the time being until I can send it off to have it properly gone through because I desperately need to change things over to a new frame. If anyone has an estimate of how much it'd cost to have it shipped and gone through by a sponsored builder I'd love to have that information.
  12. I should have noted that this video is from September, since then I've done a few upgrades and actually jetted the carbs right, the lean condition is gone. However the knocking noise isn't. I thought it was piston slap too but I'm not experienced enough to give myself a 50% that I'm right. I figured it wasn't the crank for the reason that if it was it wouldn't even run.
  13. I have to talk to my buddy and see what he can do about a bore and hone for me but until then I wanna hold off on taking it apart. About the clutch, It feels good, I can almost let the clutch lever all the way out without it stalling, That's a good thing right? so I dont know if that would be any sign as to how these cushions are.
  14. Just wondering if there was any HQ members that ride near Albany, New York.
  15. I'm afraid to take it apart, I don't want to know what that knocking is haha Cons against blaster - For girls
  16. Probably not the best place to say it but yeah, I've put some thought in it... listen to this knock and you'll understand. If anyone has any insight to what this might be it'd be greatly appericated.
  17. Yeah I figured it would, I've been weighing the pros and cons of selling it and downgrading to a blaster, it's either put another ~$900 into it and have a nice banshee or sell it and put $1500 towards a blaster.
  18. I'm at 400ft above sea level, There is some kind of knocking noise coming from the cylinders and I'm not sure what it is. I think it might be a wirst pin bearing althought I've heard a similar knocking from oter banshees I've seen on youtube. My banshee is pretty beat up, a few things are bent that I didn't notice when I bought it so I'm not sure if I want to keep it or not.
  19. Last summer when I first bought my banshee I was running 91 octance with no ethanol that I can get from a local gas station. I was running it at a 28:1 ratio and it was always a pain to start, I haven't tried it since some of the fixes I've done so maybe I'll go get a few gallons. It's pretty cold around here right now, in the 30s so It never gets above 130F water temp and yes, it is a completely stock motor. Thanks for the input
  20. I have an 87 banshee that is coming up on a rebuild, 113 psi both sides, just wondering what octane I should run in it for now. I put 87 at a 20:1 mix because it was sitting for a couple months and I wasn't sure it had enough compression for 93.
  21. I turned the air screw all the way in on the 25 and got rid of some of the sputter but I also put in new plugs to check, definitely in a really really lean condition so I ordered a set of 30s for it. Hopefully this doesn't make it too rich. Luckily it's cold here so I doubt I did any damage to the pistons with the small amount of riding I did on it. Water temperature never got over 140
  22. I can't get new plugs today to figure it out. the needle is on the middle clip and the jet is stock.
  23. Recently fixed a half done by previous owner TORS delete on my banshee now I'm trying to dial in the carbs. I have great idle to 1/4 throttle and 3/4 to WOT but 1/4 to 3/4 it sputters and loads up a lot. My take on it is that it's too rich, so what do I need to adjust to clear up that sputter. Stock carbs with TORS delete, stock engine, 320 main jet, stock pilot jet, k&n pod filters, fmf fatty pipes. I'm at 400' above sea level, and it's in the 30s.
  24. NVM I forgot to tighten the new choke I installed and it backed itself out... oops
