Hey guys,
Last week I got my first Banshee- a 99. It's a basket case right now, but it does have serious potential. It currently has:
-Toomey T5's
-K&N with ProFlow in stock box (No lid)
-MX port job
-Boyessen reeds in stock cages
-Boost bottle (I don't care lol)
-Billet WP impeller
-Adjustable timing plate (currently at +4)
Some useful information:
- Located in Long Island, NY (about 400' above sea level)
- Averaging about 50-55 degrees currently
- Stock Mikunis with a 30 pilot, 320 main, and needle on 4th clip (as per Toomey)
- Airbox lid removed
- Starts 1st kick, but to hold idle (for now), I just have to lightly hold pressure on the throttle
I'm working on getting it to idle- the previous owner had the TORS removal, but never installed idle screws. It sat for a solid 2+ months, or long enough for him to forget what oil he used to mix . I dumped the fuel, cleaned the carbs like crazy, and checked the whole machine over. So, while I work on filing down my idle screw bosses, I thought of a few questions. Please bear with me, as I'm a new Shee owner, and these might seem common-sense to you guys lol.
1) Do the stock fuel lines need to be equal length? My left side (Choke side) fuel line is like 2", while the right is about 4"
2) In general, how does my jetting sound? It's only getting colder around here...
3) I accidentally rode it lightly not knowing the idle screws weren't included, and the bottom end felt like garbage- will properly set idle screws avoid this air leak and allow me to continue tuning?
4) What jets control from idle to about 1/2 throttle? That's where it feels as if it's breaking up, but after that, it pulls HARD.
5) Any other quick mods/precautions I should take?
Thanks in advance for your help guys!
