  1. im thinking about trying out a banshee.....i currently ride a suzuki drz400s dual sport dirtbike but want something to ride in the sandpits....drz cant handle the hill climbs. used to own a modded 05 450r and have been riding for 8 years. what it will be used for: wide open feilds, sandpits with big sand hill/berms/jumps, SNOW riding....every snowstorm we are out on the streets for hours(would pick up some 4 snow tires to help with the wheelspin) this is the quad i was looking at....what do you think? i love the fact that it has a front end...not TOO familiar with banshee motor work so some imput on that would be nice. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...rksid=p3907.m32 any opinions or imput would be greatly appreciated. thanks
  2. hey thanks alot for the reply....i kind of expected that :ermm: i dont want a sled though....we dont enough snow for one to be worth it.......and i have plenty fun on the quads. any other opinions??should i stick to the 4 strokes?
  3. hey guys, im new to posting on here but a regular at alot of other forums.... quick bio-17,long island new york, riding for 6 years, recently sold a 05 honda 450r and now missing riding and want another quad...something cheap and used. im thinking about trying to mind myself a nice, clean stock banshee to rip around the feilds and sandpits out here. i love speed, and i have a real soft spot for the sound of a piped banshee running through the gears although i have NEVER owned a yamaha. now i know i would probably love a shee for my type of riding.....open straights, roads, and sandpits, butt there is one more BIG part of my riding that slightly concerns me. im not sure how it is in other places, but here on eastern long island, when the snow starts to fall, the riders come out. im not talking about doing donuts in the driveway, im talking gathering a crew up and going riding on the snowy streets ALL NIGHT....last year we had a few nice storms and we rode 6-7 hours at a time....all on the streets...backroads,mainroads, anywhere and everywhere...cops really dont even bother much... we ride to restaurants for dinner, gas stations to fill up, the works.....its really probably my favorite part of owning a quad. my 4 stroke 450 had no trouble in the snow but im wondering how it would be if i ended up picking up a banshee. i know it would be no 4 stroke 450, but if i got some maxxis 4 snow tires on rims....would i be able to ride the streets like i love to? i mostly stay out of the deep powder, and stick to the packed down streets with the few inches of snow on top. does anyone enjoy the snow like i do?? anyone ride the streets on a shee and hows it do? i hope to be a regular here if i can find me a quad! thanks alot -eric ps- i<3yamaha snow gear....a matching sled jacket for the quad would be a MUST buy haha
  4. anyone been ridin lately? rode at 56 saturday with no trouble but i hear the cops are looking to crack down again.... ive been sticking to the local powerlines cause i cant afford an impound.. i was going to try the 112 spot but i heard they are still patrolling it tight...... i know 347 and hospital rd. had spots that i never got to try before the cops took over..you think they are still guarding them tight because i never see anyone at all in there anymore?
  5. i was at 56 saturday and rode all day with no problems. we saw a cop roll through so we loaded up quickly but he was gone when we went to check for him.....mightve just been looking for people riding on the street. i think ill be there again this saturday if the weather is good. i prefer riding sat. over sunday when its packed full of idiots. id love to check out east coast mines out east but wouldnt know where to park or where to run if the cops showed. id go with someone who knew the area though.
  6. im from riverhead. theres a place called levlons out in jamesport/mattituck area that used to be the spot to go. its on the beach and its like riding at dunes. big ass hill climbs and stuff. then the d.e.c and park police starting patrolling and before i knew it, the spot was blown. i didnt get to ride it but saw vids from it and it looked ill. if there was a place i could park, id risk it and hit it during a weekday but i drove out and couldnt find anywhere safe to park. supposidly theres a set of trails that run alongside the l.i.e. from 71 to god knows where, but again, theres no way i can get to them without road ridin pretty far. i wish i had a street legal dirtbike so i could check out all the spots by the street. east coast mines is also supposidly a pretty good spot to ride too but a group of guys i know went out there a few weekends ago and got chased out in 20 minutes. ill be at 56 tommorow hoping to get there by 10:30-10:45 and ride for alittle bit. black 450r with black rims
  7. yeah i hear you man, ive seen a ton of spots that look like good riding but i dont want to risk getting my shit impounded. thats why im trying to find someone to ride with that knows the spot well. theres a few spots out east here that i've heard are pretty ill but like i said, i cant risk getting my shit impounded unless im with someone that knows the area. does anyone know if 56 is rideable on saturdays or is it just sunday only? im trying to find somewhere to ride tommorow.
  8. whats up guys, wondering if anyone on here rides on long island. im from out east exit 71 l.i.e.. i ride the powerlines locally and trailor out to exit 56 when i get sundays off work. i see a ton of banshees out at 56, anyone from here ride there.? i will also be riding at island mx for 07 but i still enjoy freeriding. i ride an 05 trx450r but i love shees  little vids me and a buddy made. we live down the street from this spot so we ride there.....if you park there the cops will be waiting for you in 5 minutes.
