  1. Ok setup is as follows: Keihin 34mm single carb 42 pilot Needle clip is 2nd from the top A/S is 1 3/4 turns out. 175 main My question is, when the clip is in the middle and it runs like shit. I moved it up a notch and it runs perfect. However, when I rode it the other day, mainly half throttle, i checked the plugs and the right plug was whitish gray and the left plug was dark brown. Should i richen up the pilot jet. If not, what should i do about the needle? Also, why is one plug a different color than the other?

  3. If anyone has a good used set of either pm me a picture. I would like some for under $300 if possible.
  4. Well i looked at it and i don't see how it comes out. I know how to do it on the mikunis but not on this one. Should i buy a 150-160 or 145-155 main jet.
  5. well i changed out the main. the guy had a 200 main in it and i read that i needed around 170. As for the needle jet, thats what it said on the slide valve. Im not too familiar with these types of carbs.
  6. Alright guys, another question on my "can't get right banshee." 34mm pwk single keihin 175 main jet 42 pilot jet with air screw 1.5 out (air screw has no effect) #6 needle jet and not sure of position, can't figure out how to adjust it. sea level is 550-650 ft and its hot as hell outside Banshee won't idle and idle screw has no effect. Powerband is virtually doesn't exist in 1-3rd gear but when i hit fourth it has all the power in the world. Im starting to wonder if my pipes are causing this or if the carburetor is just a flat out piece of shit. And if anyone has any clue whatsoever, let me know. Its driving me crazy. Also, if anyone has any stock twin mikunis for around $100, let me know.
  7. Any suggestions for needle position?
  8. So what size would you recommend on the pilot?
  9. The main jet is a 175 and 48 pilot. Not sure about the needle. Air screw is 2 1/2 turns out and the idle screw is all the way in. You have to tap the throttle for it to crank and when you let go, it dies. Also, its not really responsive when in neutral when you rev it. I absolutely hate this carb but its the one it came on it. The guy that previously own it was an absolute dumbass.
  10. What do you suggest i get? I would love to get back the twin mikunis or keihins.
  11. I ask because my setup seems to be getting too much fuel, it shoots out blue smoke even after its warm, still a little boggy before power band and it won't idle right after i re-jetted it. Im running 4:1 fuel. Im beginning to think that theres a leak on the boot that connects it to the intake. Looking for a new boot and neoprene fuel hose from the petcock. Also, the guy i bought this thing from fucked up the air box and I'm having a hard time finding one on ebay.
  12. Its the stage iv 2-1 its too late to snap a pic but i will post a pic for you tomorrow.
  13. Does anyone know how hard it would be to convert my 2-1 keihin stage 4 setup to the stock twin carbs. This includes everything involved with the stock carb setup (air box, boots from intake to carb, carbs, boots to intake, and throttle cables). Would this be a pain in the ass to convert over? I ask because the carb i have now is a 34mm pwk keihin and I'm beginning to believe its way too big for a stock engine. Any suggestions or if anyone has an old set of carbs with all the bolts, boots and air box, list your price in a pm. Thanks guys!
  14. Does anyone know where you can get aftermarket ball joints. I have searched the internet up and down and can't find aftermarket front upper and lower ball joints. If anyone can suggest where to get them besides ebay would be helpful.
  15. Haha yeah, i was told by my brother who used to race motorcycles. his mechanic told me how to set it up.
  16. Im going with 175 main jets and doing a plug chop this weekend. I pulled the plugs tonight and they are black and wet. I knew then it was running way too rich. Just trying to find the right combo. its got a 200 main jet now.
  17. I have a 2-1 keihin carburetor. Not sure on the size. Banshee has been feeling a little soggy and not very responsive throttle wise at idle. Took the bowl off and found that i have 200 main jet and 46 pilot jet. Any suggestions to the main and pilot. Air screw is 1 and 1/4 turns out from seated position. No engine mods only FMF pipes and K&N air filter. Ive heard 300 mains and 30 pilot jets. Does this sound correct.

  19. Its got a late response when i rev it while idling. Im assuming that its running a little rich. Im gonna adjust the float tomorrow and lean out my jet. Should've checked the plugs before i posted this.
  20. My noob ass has yet another question. My banshee feels a little soggy right before the power band in first and second gear. Could this be jetting or a dirty carb. I haven't checked the compression yet and didn't have time to check the plugs yet. If someone else has had this problem, tell me what you did to fix it. My setup is: FMF gnarly golds 2 to 1 keihin carb and I'm not sure about the jets because i bought it this way.
  21. I can look right through the air box and push the throttle and see that its sticking halfway when you release it. It almost seems like the spring on the cable is not pushing the slide back down hard enough. Im starting to wonder if its the cable? Do i need to back the idle screw out 1 and 1/2 turns?
  22. No I just went to check it. It just sat on the exhaust pipe with absolutely no pressure on it.
  23. Yeah I'm sure i have the right one installed. I have to the 2 to 1 keihin. That needle is a bitch to put in. Thing about that is that I didn't use and force taking it out or putting it back in. Is there any type of oil you could use to kind of help it. Im gonna use carb cleaner and something to kind of it up.

  25. I have this problem, I took my carb off yesterday to clean it. After i finished and got the carb back on, the slide with the needle that sits directly on top of the carb is getting stuck when i push the throttle. Any ideas as to why its doing this. It was working fine before but now it won't return the slide back down. The spring and cable are fine. Just curious as to why its doing this. Any suggestions or explanations would be helpful.
